The 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ uses different rear shock mounting geometry and different part numbers; N8018 is NOT confirmed for the YJ. Product Description

The Skyjacker N8018 is a single Nitro 8000 series rear shock absorber designed for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and 1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ, sized for 1-3" of rear lift. Both platforms share a solid rear axle suspension layout, and the N8018's 22.58" extended length and 8.81" stroke are calibrated to work correctly within the rear suspension travel envelope created by 1-3" of lift on these platforms - providing full extension travel without overextension, and proper compression clearance without bottoming. Shocks do not lift the vehicle; a compatible lift kit (coil springs, leaf springs, add-a-leaf, or spacers) must be installed to achieve the stated lift height before or alongside these shocks.

The Nitro 8000 series uses a twin-tube nitrogen gas design pressurized at 150 PSI. Nitrogen pressurization prevents aeration and oil foaming under sustained high-cycle off-road use, maintaining consistent damping force where non-pressurized shocks begin to fade. Multi-stage velocity-sensitive valving responds automatically to suspension speed - delivering firm, controlled resistance under fast, hard suspension inputs (rock impacts, whoops) while remaining compliant and comfortable at lower speeds on highway surfaces. D.O.M. (Drawn Over Mandrel) outer tube construction provides tighter dimensional tolerances than standard ERW tubing, reducing piston side-load and promoting more even wear across the piston seals over time. The 5/8" double chrome hardened, micro-polished rod resists corrosion from creek crossings and trail conditions, while the 14mm bonded iron piston head displaces fluid more efficiently than smaller OEM pistons for more consistent damping force at all suspension speeds.
