Vehicle Fitment

  • 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ - 4WD | Front | 4-9 in. Lift
  • 1997-2003 Ford F-150 - 4WD | Rear | 3.5-4 in. Lift (SuperCrew and standard cab; confirm cab/drivetrain via Skyjacker's fitment chart)
  • 1970-1976 Ford F-100 - 2WD & 4WD | Front | High Lift (5-9 in.)
  • 1975-1979 Ford F-150 - 2WD & 4WD | Front | High Lift (5-9 in.)
  • 1977-1979 Ford F-250 - 2WD & 4WD | Front | High Lift (5-9 in.)
  • 1978-1979 Ford Bronco - 2WD & 4WD | Front | High Lift (5-9 in.)
  • 1979 Ford F-350 - 2WD & 4WD | Front | High Lift (5-9 in.)
  • Additional platforms at 5-9 in. front lift and 3.5-4 in. rear lift - confirm your specific application via Skyjacker's official fitment chart before ordering
  • Important: N8059 covers both front (5-9 in. lift) and rear (3.5-4 in. lift) positions depending on the platform and lift height. Some front applications at 5-6 in. lift require a dual/add-a-shock (Dual OE) configuration - verify whether your specific vehicle and lift height requires one or two shocks per side before ordering.
  • Note: This shock is designed for heavily lifted applications only. It is not a stock-height or mildly lifted shock. Always verify your exact lift height before ordering.

Features

  • 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged pressure actively prevents fluid aeration and damping fade during the sustained, high-intensity use typical of 5-9 in. lifted off-road builds
  • True velocity-sensitive valving automatically adjusts damping resistance in real time based on terrain speed and suspension input - critical for controlling the increased suspension travel of extreme lift applications
  • Twin-tube construction with multi-stage valving maintains stable secondary fluid chamber performance across the full 12.19 in. stroke - one of the longest strokes in the Nitro 8000 line, designed for maximum articulation clearance
  • Oversized bonded iron piston head delivers precise fluid displacement and consistent damping force throughout the long travel range of heavily lifted truck and Jeep applications
  • 5/8 in. diameter hardened, double-chrome piston rod resists corrosion, bending, and surface wear under the high-cycle, high-load demands of serious off-road use
  • Leak-proof seal and orifice disk design prevents fluid bypass and extends service life even under demanding trail and rock-crawling conditions
  • Red polyurethane bushing at the lower Eyelet mount provides improved vibration isolation and far greater durability than OE rubber over the life of a lifted build
  • Upper Stem (stud) mount threads directly into the factory or lift-kit upper mounting location - no additional fabrication required on confirmed platforms
  • Red protective boot included to shield the piston rod from rocks, mud, and trail debris at elevated ground clearance
  • Internal rebound bumper prevents metal-to-metal contact at full droop during extreme articulation on lifted 4WD platforms
  • Shock must mount body-down - mandatory installation orientation for correct function and longevity
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by Skyjacker's SkyArmor Plus supplemental warranty program

Product Description

The Skyjacker N8059 is a Nitro 8000 Series twin-tube, 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged shock absorber purpose-built for heavily lifted 4WD trucks and SUVs. At 28.75 in. extended and 16.56 in. collapsed with a 12.19 in. stroke - the longest stroke in this session's Nitro 8000 review - it is sized for front suspension travel at 5-9 in. of lift and rear applications at 3.5-4 in. of lift. Its Stem (stud) upper / Eyelet lower mount configuration provides a clean, direct installation on confirmed platforms. Primary confirmed applications include the 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ at 4 in. or greater front lift, classic Ford F-100/F-150/F-250/Bronco/F-350 (1970-1979) at high front lift heights, and the 1997-2003 Ford F-150 4WD as a rear shock at 3.5-4 in. of lift.

The 150 PSI nitrogen charge suppresses fluid foaming and fade during sustained off-road use, while the velocity-sensitive valving continuously adjusts to suspension speed and terrain input - essential for managing the expanded travel range of extreme lift configurations. The oversized bonded iron piston and 5/8 in. double-chrome rod provide the durability needed for serious wheeling. For some platforms at 5-6 in. of front lift, a Dual OE (add-a-shock) configuration is required; this is vehicle- and lift-specific and should be confirmed against Skyjacker's official fitment application chart before ordering.

This shock is designed strictly for heavily lifted applications. It is not appropriate for stock-height or mildly lifted (0-4 in. front) vehicles - using it outside of its designed lift range will result in improper shock function. Because N8059 serves both front and rear positions across different platforms, always confirm the required position, lift height, and whether a dual shock setup is needed for your specific application before ordering. Sold individually; order the correct quantity for your build. No 2025 fitment is confirmed for this part number; the newest confirmed application is the 2003 Ford F-150.
