Vehicle Fitment

  • 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) - 4WD | Front & Rear | High Lift (Front: 5-6 in. per ExtremeTerrain; Front Dual OE: 7-9 in.; Rear: 5-8 in. per Skyjacker)
  • 1977-2003 Ford F-150 - 4WD | Front & Rear | Lifted (see lift range notes below)
  • 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage - 4WD | Front & Rear | Lifted
  • 1970-1976 Ford F-100 - 4WD | Front & Rear | High Lift (5-8 in.)
  • 1978-1979 Ford Bronco - 4WD | Front & Rear | High Lift
  • Lift Range Notes:
    • Jeep Wrangler YJ (1987-1995): Front use at 5-6 in. lift confirmed (ExtremeTerrain). Front Dual OE (add-a-shock) at 7-9 in. lift; Rear at 5-8 in. lift per Skyjacker application notes.
    • Ford F-150 (1997-2003): Rear use at 1-5 in. lift confirmed (AmericanTrucks); Front use at 5-6 in. lift confirmed by ShockSurplus kit pairing (N8061+N8097).
    • Ford F-150 (1977-1996) and Ford F-100 (1970-1976): Front and Rear at high-lift applications. Confirm exact lift height via Skyjacker's official fitment chart.
  • Important: N8061 serves both front and rear positions depending on platform and lift height. Some front applications at 7-9 in. lift require a Dual OE (add-a-shock) configuration - verify whether your vehicle and lift height requires one or two shocks per side before ordering.
  • Note: This shock is intended for significantly lifted applications only. It is not appropriate for stock-height or mildly lifted (0-4 in.) vehicles. Always confirm your exact lift height and application before ordering.

Features

  • 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged pressure actively prevents fluid aeration and damping fade, delivering consistent performance under the high-cycle, high-travel demands of heavily lifted classic trucks and Jeeps
  • True velocity-sensitive valving automatically adjusts damping resistance in real time based on suspension input speed and terrain - essential for controlling the extended suspension travel of 5-9 in. lifted applications
  • Twin-tube construction with multi-stage valving maintains stable secondary fluid chamber performance across the full 12.53 in. stroke - one of the longest in the Nitro 8000 series, engineered for extreme lift clearance
  • Oversized bonded iron piston head ensures precise fluid displacement and consistent damping force throughout the long travel range required by high-lift truck and Jeep suspension geometry
  • 5/8 in. diameter hardened, double-chrome piston rod resists corrosion, bending, and surface wear under sustained heavy off-road use across classic Ford and Jeep YJ platforms
  • Leak-proof seal and orifice disk design prevents fluid bypass and extends service life across years of demanding trail use on lifted builds
  • Red polyurethane bushing at the lower Eyelet/Sleeve mount provides improved vibration isolation and long-term durability superior to OE rubber - critical on high-lift builds subject to elevated suspension loads
  • Upper Stem (stud) mount threads directly into the factory or lift-kit upper mounting location on all confirmed platforms - no additional fabrication required
  • Red protective boot included to shield the piston rod from rocks, mud, and trail debris at elevated ground clearance
  • Internal rebound bumper prevents metal-to-metal contact at full droop during extreme front and rear suspension articulation on lifted builds
  • Shock must mount body-down - mandatory installation orientation for correct function and longevity
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by Skyjacker's SkyArmor Plus supplemental warranty program

Product Description

The Skyjacker N8061 is a Nitro 8000 Series twin-tube, 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged shock absorber with a Stem (top) / Eyelet-Sleeve (bottom) mount and one of the longest strokes in the Nitro 8000 line at 12.53 in. It is purpose-built for heavily lifted 4WD trucks and SUVs, serving both front and rear positions across a confirmed fitment range that includes the 1987-1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ, the 1977-2003 Ford F-150 (4WD), the 2004 Ford F-150 Heritage, the 1970-1976 Ford F-100, and the 1978-1979 Ford Bronco - all in 4WD configuration at high lift heights.

On the Jeep Wrangler YJ, N8061 covers 5-6 in. of front lift as a standard front shock, and serves a Dual OE (add-a-shock) front configuration at 7-9 in. lift, and rear positions at 5-8 in. lift. On the 1997-2003 Ford F-150 4WD, it is confirmed as a front shock at 5-6 in. lift (paired with N8097 rear) and as a rear shock at 1-5 in. lift. On the classic Ford F-150 (1977-1996), F-100 (1970-1976), and Bronco (1978-1979), it serves high-lift front and rear applications. At 30.46 in. extended and 17.42 in. collapsed, N8061 is distinctly longer than N8059 (2
