Product Description

The PowerStop KC1858-36 Z36 Truck & Tow rear brake kit is a complete rear braking upgrade for select 1995-2001 Ford Explorer, 1997-2001 Mercury Mountaineer, 2001-2002 Ford Explorer Sport, and 1998-2002 Ford Ranger EV applications. The kit combines 285 mm solid cast-iron cross-drilled and slotted rotors, Z36 carbon-fiber ceramic brake pads, and red powder-coated replacement calipers for a matched braking system designed for demanding street, towing, hauling, and off-road use.

The Z36 carbon-fiber ceramic friction material is reinforced for increased load capacity while maintaining controlled dust and noise characteristics. The drilled and slotted rotors help dissipate heat during repeated braking, while the zinc-plated surfaces provide additional corrosion resistance. The floating rear calipers use single steel pistons and are supplied with the required pad shims, abutment clips, stainless-steel hardware, and high-temperature ceramic lubricant.

KC1858-36 is designed as a direct bolt-on rear brake upgrade for compatible factory configurations without vehicle modifications. Fitment is configuration-specific: Explorer and Mountaineer applications require the compatible steel-piston rear calipers, while Ranger EV applications require factory rear disc brakes. Verify the vehicle's year, model, drivetrain, engine, rear brake configuration, and caliper type before installation.
