Vehicle Fitment

  • 2016-2024 Chevrolet Camaro SS (Alpha Platform, SS / SS 1LE / Coupe / Convertible, 6.2L V8 LT1, RWD)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits only the Camaro SS equipped with the 6.2L V8 LT1 engine. Does not fit the Camaro ZL1 (LT4 supercharged), Camaro LT, Camaro LS, or Camaro 2.0L Turbo.
  • Compatible with Convertible models - the stock strut tower bar must be partially removed to install the catch can bracket.
  • Catch can bracket is positioned away from most aftermarket intake and supercharger kits to preserve compatibility with future engine bay modifications.
  • Can be installed without removing the intake manifold by connecting the supplied hoses directly to the manifold.
  • This is a PCV-side only catch can. It works in conjunction with the factory air/oil separator for maximum crankcase protection.
  • Worm gear clamp torque spec: 22 in-lbs (2.5 N·m) recommended; operating range 18-27 in-lbs (2-3 N·m); do not exceed 27 in-lbs (3 N·m).
  • Mishimoto recommends checking catch can contents every 1,000 miles until a baseline accumulation rate is established. Do not allow fluid to rise above the internal baffle.

Features

  • Direct-fit PCV-side baffled oil catch can engineered specifically for the 2016-2024 Chevrolet Camaro SS with the 6.2L LT1 engine - no cutting, drilling, or modification required.
  • Mounts in-line with the PCV system to intercept blow-by before it re-enters the intake, protecting the LT1's direct-injection intake valves from oil and carbon buildup.
  • Internal air diverter turbulates incoming blow-by gases to improve oil droplet separation before air reaches the 50-micron bronze filter - delivering cleaner air back to the intake than a standard AOS.
  • 50-micron sintered bronze filter removes remaining carbon particles, ensuring only clean, dry air exits the catch can.
  • Unlike heated AOS systems that return blow-by back to the oil pan, this catch can permanently traps oil, fuel, and water vapor - keeping contamination out of the engine entirely.
  • Helps maintain octane integrity in the combustion chamber by preventing fuel-thinned blow-by from recirculating, reducing the risk of detonation in the high-compression LT1.
  • Patented billet 6061 aluminum can construction sealed with Viton O-rings for a leak-free, corrosion-resistant design built to handle underhood heat and vibration.
  • Robust, application-specific steel mounting bracket positions the can in a fully serviceable location away from most intake and supercharger kits.
  • Pre-molded direct-fit silicone hoses with factory-style quick-disconnect fittings pre-installed for a true plug-and-play installation - no universal adapters or splicing required.
  • 3 fl. oz. capacity provides extended service intervals between drains.
  • Filter and can body are fully cleanable and reusable - maintenance requires no replacement parts.
  • Installs in under 30 minutes. Patent number US D884,760 S. Backed by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty.

Product Description

The Mishimoto MMBCC-CAM8-16PBE is a direct-fit PCV-side baffled oil catch can engineered specifically for the 2016-2024 Chevrolet Camaro SS with the 6.2L LT1 V8. The LT1 uses direct fuel injection, which is highly efficient but does not wash the intake valves with fuel the way port-injected engines do. Over time, blow-by gases from the crankcase circulate through the PCV system and back into the intake, depositing oil, carbon, and fuel vapors directly onto the intake valves and ports - a buildup that restricts airflow and degrades engine performance. This catch can mounts in-line with the PCV circuit to intercept that blow-by before it can reach the intake, trapping it in the can to be drained at your next oil change.

Inside the compact billet 6061 aluminum can, an internal air diverter forces incoming blow-by gases to change direction, creating turbulence that causes oil and water droplets to condense and fall to the bottom of the can. A 50-micron sintered bronze filter then removes any remaining carbon particles before clean air exits the outlet. Unlike heated air/oil separator (AOS) systems that drain collected blow-by back into the oil pan - where fuel and water can reduce oil viscosity and accelerate wear - this catch can permanently sequesters everything it captures. The collected blow-by is drained and discarded at each oil change, ensuring none of it ever returns to the engine. This also preserves the octane rating of the fuel mixture in the combustion chamber, reducing the risk of detonation in the LT1's high-compression environment. The catch can works alongside the factory air/oil separator for a two-stage crankcase protection system.

Installation is rated easy and requires no cutting, drilling, or removal of the intake manifold - the supplied hoses connect directly to the manifold ports using pre-installed factory-style quick-disconnect fittings for a clean, plug-and-play fit. The application-specific steel bracket mounts the can in a serviceable location away from most intake and supercharger kits, making it compatible with a wide range of future build plans. Convertible Camaro owners should note that the stock strut tower bar must be partially removed to install the bracket, but no permanent modification is required. The catch can's 3 fl. oz. capacity provides extended service intervals, and all internal components - filter, baffle, and can body - are fully cleanable and reusable for the life of the vehicle. Covered by the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty and carrying patent number US D884,760 S, the MMBCC-CAM8-16PBE is one of the most straightforward and effective engine protection upgrades available for the Gen 6 Camaro SS.
