• This striker plate is ONLY required if a U-bolt flip kit has been installed on the rear axle - if the factory U-bolt orientation is retained (threaded end pointing down), this part is not needed
• A U-bolt flip inverts the U-bolt so the threaded end and nut point upward rather than downward - this changes the profile of the top plate above the leaf spring, requiring this striker plate to provide a flat contact surface for the hydraulic bump stop
• Requires a compatible third-party U-bolt flip kit (not sold by ICON) - the 56105 replaces the top plate that comes with the U-bolt flip kit
• Requires the ICON 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma Rear Hydraulic Bump Stop Kit (part #56103) - this striker plate is not a standalone bump stop and does not function without the hydraulic bump stop system

The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 56105 is a rear bump stop striker plate kit designed for 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners who are installing the ICON Rear Hydraulic Bump Stop Kit (part #56103) on a Tacoma that has already had a U-bolt flip performed on the rear axle. Understanding when this part is needed requires understanding what a U-bolt flip does: from the factory, the Tacoma's rear leaf spring U-bolts are installed with the threaded ends pointing downward. A U-bolt flip inverts this orientation so the threaded ends - and the flat top plate that bears against the top of the spring pack - now face upward. This inverted plate profile changes the geometry above the spring pack, and the stock or replacement U-bolt flip top plate does not provide adequate flat surface area for the ICON hydraulic bump stop to engage correctly at full suspension compression. The 56105 striker plate kit resolves this by replacing the top plate in the U-bolt flip stack with a purpose-engineered flat plate that gives the hydraulic bump stop piston a proper contact surface.

The 56105 is CNC laser cut and bent from 3/8" steel plate and finished with a zinc coating for undercarriage corrosion resistance. Its construction is engineered to withstand the repeated high-force impacts that occur when a hydraulic bump stop engages at full compression - forces that would quickly deform a thinner or improperly sized plate. The striker plate installs directly into the U-bolt flip hardware stack in place of the existing top plate, requiring no additional drilling, welding, or fabrication.

It is important to note that this part is a required companion to the ICON 56103 Hydraulic Bump Stop Kit - it does not function as a standalone product. Additionally, a third-party U-bolt flip kit must already be installed or purchased separately, as ICON does not sell a U-bolt flip kit. This part is only for 6-lug Tacoma configurations; 2005-2015 5-lug RWD Tacoma models are not compatible. Tacomas running the standard factory U-bolt orientation (threaded ends pointing down) do not require the 56105 - the 56103 Hydraulic Bump Stop Kit alone is sufficient for those applications.
