  • 1999-2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (2WD/4WD - non-HD only)
  • 1999-2004 GMC Sierra 2500 (2WD/4WD - non-HD only)
  • 2005-2006 GMC Sierra 2500 HD (2WD/4WD)
  • 1999 GMC C1500 (2WD/4WD)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits both 2WD and 4WD configurations across all cab styles (Regular, Extended, Crew Cab) and bed lengths throughout the supported year range.
  • Does NOT fit the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD or GMC Sierra 2500HD - this bar is designed for the lighter-duty 2500 (non-HD) only. For HD models, a different Hellwig part is required.
  • 2007-2013 models equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission require the Hellwig 7799 accessory bracket kit for proper clearance during installation - verify your transmission before ordering.
  • Fits 2WD Silverado/Sierra 1500 trucks with 2"-4" rear shackle drops (lowered trucks) - does NOT fit drops exceeding 4" without custom end links.
  • The adjustment mechanism on the end links is for installation leveling to accommodate different ride heights - it is not a performance stiffness adjustment.
  • Covers the GMT800 (1999-2006) and GMT900 (2007-2013) generations of Silverado/Sierra 1500.

Features

  • Adjustable rear sway bar engineered for the 1999-2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 - a long-running, widely sold bar covering both the GMT800 and GMT900 platform generations.
  • 1-1/8" (1.125 in.) diameter solid, heat-treated 4140 chromoly spring steel - larger than the factory bar, delivering meaningful improvement in rear lateral stiffness and body roll resistance.
  • Adjustable-length end links accommodate trucks at stock ride height, moderately lifted configurations, and 2WD trucks with up to 4" of rear shackle drop - providing installation flexibility across a wide range of vehicle setups.
  • Reduces rear body lean, cornering sway, and crosswind sensitivity - particularly effective during towing, hauling, and highway driving where the factory bar is insufficient.
  • Installs while the spare tire remains in place - no need to remove the spare for installation, though it may be removed to make the process easier.
  • High-durometer polyurethane bushings included for superior roll resistance, reduced noise and vibration, and longer service life than rubber.
  • Gray hammertone powdercoated finish for corrosion resistance in all weather and road conditions.
  • Heat-formed as a single piece from 4140 chromoly steel - more structurally consistent at the bends versus cold-bent alternatives.
  • Bolt-on installation using factory rear axle mounting locations - all required hardware included.
  • ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing at Hellwig's Visalia, California facility. Made in the USA. Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Product Description

The Hellwig 7800 Rear Sway Bar is a direct-fit, adjustable-rate rear suspension upgrade engineered for the 1999-2013 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 - one of Hellwig's most broadly applicable sway bar kits, spanning both the GMT800 (1999-2006) and GMT900 (2007-2013) platform generations. The factory rear sway bar on these trucks is sized for general ride comfort rather than meaningful roll stiffness, leaving the truck with more rear body lean than most owners find acceptable during cornering, towing, or loaded highway driving. The Hellwig 7800 replaces the stock bar with a solid 1-1/8" heat-treated 4140 chromoly unit with adjustable-length end links that accommodate a wide range of ride height configurations - from stock through 4" of rear lowering on 2WD models.

One important installation note for 2007-2013 models: trucks equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission require the separate Hellwig 7799 accessory bracket kit for proper installation clearance. This is specific to the GMT900 generation - buyers with 6-speed automatics should confirm they have the 7799 kit before beginning installation. The adjustment mechanism on the end links is designed for ride height leveling during installation rather than as a performance stiffness tuner, and the bar installs with the factory spare tire in place. The kit can also be used on 2WD 1500 trucks with up to 4" of rear shackle drop.

Fitment covers the Silverado/Sierra 1500 through 2013 across all trims and engines, plus the 1500 HD and non-HD 2500 variants within the supported year ranges. The 2500HD is not supported - a different Hellwig bar is required for that platform. Built at Hellwig's ISO 9001:2015 certified Visalia, California facility and backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, the 7800 is one of Hellwig's most established rear sway bar offerings for one of the most popular truck platforms in North American history.
