Fitment Notes

• Push-type clutch applications only - not compatible with pull-type clutch systems. Verify your clutch system type before ordering.
• Does NOT fit the Subaru STI - the STI uses a different flywheel bolt pattern and clutch configuration. For STI applications, see Exedy FF501A.
• Flywheel bolts are NOT included - OEM Subaru flywheel bolts (PN 800610740) or ARP flywheel bolts (PN 254-2801) must be sourced separately. Reusing old flywheel bolts is not recommended.
• Resurfacing the flywheel at each clutch service interval is recommended to maximize clutch disc life.
• Exedy does not guarantee fitment or performance on unlisted applications.

Product Description

The Exedy FF502A is a lightweight billet chromoly steel flywheel engineered for EJ255-powered Subaru WRX, Legacy GT, Forester XT, and Impreza applications as well as the 2015-2016 FA20F WRX, replacing the heavy OE flywheel with a one-piece 12.7 lb unit that dramatically reduces rotational inertia. The OE Subaru flywheel carries significantly more mass than necessary for street and performance use - that rotational inertia slows throttle response, delays rev buildup, and absorbs power that would otherwise reach the wheels. Switching to the FF502A shortens throttle response times, sharpens gear changes, and delivers a more immediate, connected driving character that benefits everything from canyon roads to autocross courses to drag launches.

Unlike aluminum flywheels, where the ring gear is pressed on and can separate under heat and stress due to different thermal expansion rates, the FF502A machines the ring gear teeth directly into the one-piece chromoly body - eliminating that failure mode entirely. The chromoly alloy also provides superior thermal capacity for dissipating heat at the clutch friction surface, keeping performance consistent under repeated high-load clutch engagements. The flywheel is SFI 1.1 certified and engineering-tested to 15,000-18,000 RPM. Flywheel mounting bolts are not included - source OEM Subaru or ARP units separately.
