Vehicle Fitment

  • 2001-2005 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 GTI 1.8T 180 (1.8L Turbo I4, AUQ engine, FWD) - 256mm rear rotor variant
  • 2002 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 GTI 337 Edition (1.8L Turbo I4, FWD)
  • 2003 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 GTI 20th Anniversary Edition (1.8L Turbo I4, FWD)
  • 2003-2004 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 R32 (3.2L VR6, 4Motion AWD)
  • 1999-2003 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 2.8L V6 4Motion (2.8L VR6, AWD)
  • 1999-2006 Audi TT Quattro (1.8L Turbo I4, 225hp, Quattro AWD) - 8N platform
  • 2003-2006 Audi TT 3.2 Quattro (3.2L VR6, Quattro AWD) - 8N platform

Fitment Notes

  • Fits only models equipped with the 256mm vented rear rotor and Girling/TRW rear caliper - verify your rear rotor diameter before ordering
  • Does not fit standard VW Golf Mk4 GTI 1.8T 150hp - that variant uses a solid 232mm rear rotor
  • Does not fit the front-wheel-drive Audi TT 180hp - that model uses a solid 232mm rear rotor
  • Does not fit VW Jetta Mk4 1.8T or VR6 standard models - those use the 232mm solid rear rotor
  • Thermic Black coating does not require removal before install - clears naturally from the pad contact zone within the first 10-20 stops
  • Do not fit upgrade pads to the rear unless the same upgrade is also fitted to the front

Features

  • Wide-aperture slots draw cool air under the pad contact zone, reducing heat buildup and preventing brake fade during spirited driving or track use
  • Blind-drilled dimples provide superior pad degassing without the stress crack risk of through-drilled holes
  • Thermic Black anti-corrosion finish protects all non-contact areas from road salt, brine, and moisture
  • Unidirectional rotor design optimized for left and right side placement for maximum rear braking effectiveness
  • Wider vented center aperture promotes consistent airflow between rotor faces for reliable thermal management
  • Precision CNC machined to within 0.05mm tolerances; 100% runout and dimensionally inspected before release
  • Cast from G3000 high-carbon grey iron - the same spec used in OEM production
  • Passed European R90 brake safety standards; proven to run significantly cooler than non-slotted rotors

Product Description

The EBC GD931 3GD Series Rear Brake Rotors are engineered for the high-performance variants of the Mk4 VW Golf and first-generation Audi TT that came factory-equipped with the larger 256mm vented rear brake setup - the GTI 180, 337, 20th Anniversary Edition, R32, and Audi TT Quattro. These models share a common Girling/TRW rear caliper and 256mm vented rotor specification, and the GD931's dimpled-and-slotted surface treatment actively draws cool air through the rear contact zone to expel heat, gases, and brake dust for more confident rear braking.

Each rotor is individually balanced and runout-inspected before leaving the factory for smooth, vibration-free performance from day one. The Thermic Black coating protects non-swept areas from corrosion and clears naturally from the contact zone during break-in - no prep required. EBC recommends pairing these rotors with Redstuff or Yellowstuff rear brake pads and a 500-mile bedding period with progressive braking to fully seat the pad-to-rotor contact surfaces.
