  • Jeep Wrangler (YJ / TJ) multiple years including anniversary editions, Sport / Sahara trims etc.

Fitment Notes

  • Front Dana 30 differential only (solid front axle) - does not fit independent front suspension (IFS) Dana 30 variants without matching specs
  • High-pinion reverse-cut models where applicable (e.g. Jeep XJ/YJ front) included where axle specs align
  • Some older models had vacuum disconnects or two-piece axle shafts; verify if your axle has CAD (Center Axle Disconnect) for compatibility
  • Does not fit Jeep JL/JT, Gladiator, or post-2004 vehicles using newer Dana axles unless they share identical front Dana 30 solid axle specs

Features

  • Includes premium Timken bearings (carrier, head, tail) for long service life and quiet operation
  • Thread-locking compound included to secure bolts against loosening under load or vibration
  • Reverse ring gear rotation design, suited for front/high-pinion Dana 30 applications requiring this orientation
  • Carrier shims and ring gear bolts supplied, facilitating accurate gear setup and backlash adjustment
  • Ring gear bolts and cover bolts are included for full differential cover service
  • Gear marking compound included to ensure proper ring-pinion contact pattern during installation
  • Axle spline count of 27, pinion spline tooth count 26 EA; matches OEM Dana 30 specs for many classic 4WD rigs
  • All internal bearings provided so full differential rebuild or ring & pinion replacement can be done without sourcing extra parts

Specifications

  • Position: Front solid axle, Dana 30 differential
  • Ring gear rotation: Reverse cut
  • Gear spline tooth count: 26 EA
  • Axle spline count: 27
  • Number of cover bolts: 10

  • Trim / Vehicle-specific models include solid front axle using Dana 30 through ~2004 on many Jeeps; OEM specs must match for spline counts and rotation

Product Description

The Eaton K-D30-F Master Differential Install Kit is designed to provide everything needed for a full front Dana 30 solid axle ring & pinion service or upgrade. With premium components like Timken bearings, reverse-cut ring gear, and correct spline counts (27 for axle, 26 for pinion), this kit ensures precise fitment and durability in classic off-road, 4WD, and restoration applications.

This kit is especially valuable for restorers or off-roaders working on Ford Broncos ('66-'71), International Scouts and Scout IIs (late '60s-'70s), and Jeep Cherokee XJ / CJ / Wrangler front ends through the early 2000s where the factory used Dana 30 solid axles. Make sure your axle matches specs (axle and pinion spline counts, reverse rotation if required, solid front housing) before installing. If your model had a Center Axle Disconnect (CAD) or vacuum disconnect, confirm front shaft assembly compatibility. Installation generally requires setting proper ring-and-pinion backlash, bearing preload, and torque-spec tools. Use manuals for your vehicle.
