Vehicle Fitment

  • 2006-2013 Chevrolet Corvette C6 - Base Model (LS2/LS3) - Automatic transmission only
  • 2009-2013 Chevrolet Corvette C6 - Grand Sport (LS3) - Automatic transmission only

Fitment Notes

  • Automatic transmission only. Manual transmission C6 owners require a different part number. The Z06 (LS7) and ZR1 (LS9) are not compatible with this part - they use a different driveshaft configuration
  • This is the Heavy Duty 3.5" coupler eliminator version (GMC6A-2-E). It replaces the OEM rubber guibo/flex coupler with custom CNC-machined billet aluminum flanges that bolt directly to the OEM transmission and differential flanges. The standard 3.0" version (GMC6A-2) and 3.0" non-eliminator version use different ends - verify the correct variant before ordering
  • The C6 Corvette uses two different OEM shaft tube sizes across the production run - both are replaced by this single DSS unit
  • Hardware: 12mm grade 12.9 metric bolts - the OEM flange bolt holes are used directly; no drilling or modification to the vehicle's flanges is required
  • Made to order - lead time is approximately 4-6 weeks from order
  • Length (flange-to-flange): 43.395"

Features

  • 3.5" diameter 6061-T6 aluminum tube, 0.125" wall thickness - the larger 3.5" diameter (vs. the OEM tube and DSS's own standard 3.0" GMC6A-2) provides greater torsional stiffness and resistance to flexing and bending under extreme torque loads; the 0.125" wall 6061-T6 construction achieves this in a lightweight, corrosion-resistant package
  • Coupler eliminator design (-E suffix) - the OEM C6 torque tube driveshaft uses rubber guibo flex couplers at each end to connect the shaft to the transmission output flange and the differential input flange. These rubber couplers are the most common driveline failure point on high-horsepower C6 builds: they deform under sustained torque, cause vibration, and eventually tear apart. The DSS GMC6A-2-E replaces these with CNC-machined billet aluminum flanged ends that bolt directly to the OEM metal flanges - permanently eliminating the coupler as a failure point
  • One-piece design - replaces the factory multi-piece arrangement with a single continuous aluminum torque tube, reducing drivetrain compliance, improving power transfer efficiency, and eliminating any relative motion between shaft sections
  • 1000HP+ rated - DSS rates this shaft for sustained use at over 1,000 horsepower; appropriate for both street-driven high-performance builds and dedicated track/drag-strip applications
  • High-speed precision balancing - each shaft is balanced at high RPM on DSS's computerized balancing equipment after assembly to eliminate vibration across the full operating speed range
  • Direct bolt-on installation - no drilling, tapping, or modification to the vehicle's OEM transmission or differential flanges; the CNC-machined ends align to the factory flange bolt pattern with grade 12.9 hardware
  • Made in the USA - manufactured at The Driveshaft Shop's facility using in-house CNC machining and balancing equipment
  • 1-year warranty

Product Description

The Driveshaft Shop GMC6A-2-E (PN 610135) is a one-piece 3.5" heavy-duty 6061-T6 aluminum torque tube driveshaft with coupler eliminator ends for the 2006-2013 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Base and Grand Sport with automatic transmission. It replaces the OEM torque tube driveshaft and permanently eliminates the OEM rubber guibo flex couplers - the most common driveline failure point on high-power C6 builds - with CNC-machined billet aluminum flanged ends that bolt directly to the factory transmission and differential flanges without any drilling or modification.

The C6 Corvette's torque tube driveshaft passes inside a rigid tunnel between the transmission and transaxle-mounted differential - a configuration that gives the car its near-50/50 weight distribution but subjects the driveshaft to the full rotational and torsional output of the engine. The OEM shaft uses two rubber guibo flex couplers (one at each end) to connect to the metal flanges on the transmission and differential. These couplers are adequate for stock power levels but fail predictably in high-horsepower applications: they deform under peak torque, transmit that deformation as vibration through the drivetrain, and eventually tear apart. DSS's coupler eliminator approach removes them from the equation - the CNC-machined billet aluminum ends on the GMC6A-2-E seat directly against the OEM metal flanges and fasten with grade 12.9 hardware, transmitting torque rigidly without any intermediate rubber.

The 3.5" tube diameter of this Heavy Duty version (vs. 3.0" on the standard GMC6A-2) provides greater torsional stiffness, reducing shaft flex under hard acceleration loads that can cause the OEM tube to actually bend. Rated to 1,000HP+, this shaft is appropriate for supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous-assisted C6 builds as well as dedicated drag and track cars. Each shaft is high-speed balanced after final assembly. Lead time is approximately 4-6 weeks as units are built to order. Compatible with Base and Grand Sport C6 automatics only - Z06 (LS7) and ZR1 (LS9) use different driveshaft configurations.
