Built around a high carbon alloyed cast iron disc ring paired with an anodized black 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum hat, the 5000 Series design reduces unsprung rotational mass compared to conventional one-piece rotors while improving thermal management through the aluminum hat's reduced heat transfer pathway to the wheel hub. The hat and ring assembly is held together by National Aerospace Standards (NAS) bolts and crimp nuts, delivering maximum strength at minimal weight. The T3 slot pattern consists of 48 precision CNC machined tri-symmetrical slots arranged bi-directionally, building on DBA's T2 slot foundation with additional exit points for brake pad friction dust and gases. The result is a quieter, more responsive pedal feel with improved consistency across repeated hard stops. DBA's Kangaroo Paw pillar vane design provides up to 20% greater heat dissipation versus straight-vane rotors.
