Fitment Notes

• Does NOT fit 1999-2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra - the 1999-2004 Cobra uses an Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with a completely different upper control arm design and mounting points; these arms will not install on IRS-equipped vehicles
• Compatible with 1994-1998 SVT Cobra - these years used the same solid rear axle (SRA) found on all other 1979-2004 Mustangs
• Designed for solid rear axle (SRA) applications only - not compatible with any IRS configuration
• Non-adjustable design - pinion angle is fixed at the OEM geometry; for pinion angle correction, see BMR UTCA040R (adjustable, polyurethane) or UTCA041R (adjustable, spherical)
• Installation requires a professional alignment after fitting; estimated installation time is 2-3 hours with light to moderate mechanical skill

Product Description

The BMR Suspension UTCA012R is a pair of non-adjustable rear upper control arms engineered as a direct bolt-on performance upgrade for 1979-2004 Ford Mustangs equipped with a solid rear axle. Built from 1-5/8" DOM steel tubing with 0.120" wall thickness and MIG-welded construction, these arms are substantially stronger and more rigid than the OEM stamped steel units. The factory control arms and their soft rubber bushings absorb and deflect under load rather than transferring energy to the tires - resulting in wheel hop, alignment shift under acceleration, and inconsistent traction. The UTCA012R eliminates that compliance entirely by replacing the rubber bushings with 95-durometer internally fluted polyurethane units that resist deflection without introducing excessive NVH.

The internally fluted bushing design is one of the key engineering details that sets these arms apart from cheaper alternatives. The flutes create channels that direct grease to the outer thrust surface of the bushing during operation, ensuring continuous lubrication and reducing bushing wear over time. Combined with a Zerk grease fitting at each bushing location, the UTCA012R can be serviced without removal, making long-term maintenance simple for street-driven builds. The non-adjustable design is intentional - for most street and bracket racing applications, a rigid, fixed-geometry arm is more reliable and consistent than an adjustable unit and eliminates the possibility of misadjustment after installation.

The UTCA012R fits all solid rear axle 1979-2004 Mustangs, including all V6, GT, Mach 1, Bullitt, and 1994-1998 SVT Cobra variants. It does not fit the 1999-2004 SVT Cobra, which uses an independent rear suspension (IRS) with different upper control arm geometry and mounting. For builds requiring pinion angle correction - typically needed when running lowering springs, coilovers, or a raised or relocated rear axle - BMR offers the UTCA040R (adjustable, polyurethane) and UTCA041R (adjustable, spherical) as alternatives. All BMR control arms are manufactured in the USA and are available in both Red (UTCA012R) and Black Hammertone (UTCA012H) finishes.
