Vehicle Fitment

  • 2011-2014 Ford Mustang S197 (All trims including V6, GT, Boss 302, and Shelby GT500 - Coupe and Convertible)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits all 2011-2014 S197 Mustang models regardless of engine or trim. This is a rear upper control arm - the single centered upper arm that forms the third link of the S197's three-link live axle rear suspension.
  • BMR strongly recommends upgrading the factory upper control arm mount to BMR PN UCM002 (bolt-on) when installing any aftermarket upper control arm on the S197. The factory stamped steel mount is undersized for the increased loads of an aftermarket arm, and clunking noise is commonly reported without the upgraded mount.
  • On-car adjustable design allows pinion angle and arm length to be changed without removing the arm from the vehicle - essential for dialing in driveline geometry after suspension modifications, ride height changes, or axle swaps.
  • Rod end design provides zero bushing deflection under load - the UCA753 is the rod end version of BMR's S197 upper control arm line. For a polyurethane bushing version (lower NVH, more street-friendly), see BMR's UTCA032H.
  • Red powder coat version available as BMR PN UCA753R.
  • Estimated installation time is 2-3 hours.

Features

  • On-car adjustable rod end upper control arm eliminates the deflection and compliance of the factory stamped steel arm - the factory S197 upper control arm is a single, centered third link made from light-gauge stamped steel with a rubber bushing at the axle end. Under hard launches and during cornering, this arm deflects and the rubber bushing compresses, allowing the rear axle to rotate and shift position relative to the chassis. The result is wheel hop, inconsistent traction at launch, and reduced handling repeatability. The UCA753's rigid DOM tube construction with rod end eliminates this deflection entirely.
  • Rod end design provides zero bushing deflection and maximum articulation - unlike polyurethane bushings which still compress slightly under load, a rod end provides a true pivot point with no deflection in any direction. This is the preferred configuration for maximum performance in drag racing and road race applications where absolute consistency of axle position is required.
  • On-car adjustable length enables pinion angle tuning without removing the arm from the vehicle - the telescoping adjuster allows the arm length (and therefore the rear axle pinion angle) to be changed while the car is on the ground, making it straightforward to optimize driveline geometry for your specific build height and performance goals.
  • DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) steel tubing delivers superior wall consistency and strength compared to the factory stamped steel arm - DOM tubing is manufactured to tighter dimensional tolerances than seam-welded tubing, providing a more consistent, stronger tube wall throughout the arm's length.
  • Reduces wheel hop - by eliminating both arm flex and bushing deflection at the axle mount, the UCA753 keeps the rear axle more positively located during hard acceleration, reducing the axle's tendency to hop and improving 60-foot times and launch consistency.
  • Black Hammertone powder coat finish provides durable corrosion resistance and clean underbody appearance.
  • Designed for street performance, drag racing, and handling applications. Made in the USA.

Product Description

The BMR UCA753H is an on-car adjustable rear upper control arm for the 2011-2014 Ford Mustang S197, featuring a rod end and DOM steel tubing in Black Hammertone powder coat. As the single centered third link of the S197's three-link live axle rear suspension, the factory upper control arm is a known weak point - the light-gauge stamped steel construction deflects under load, and the rubber bushing at the axle end compresses during hard launches and cornering, allowing the rear axle to rotate and shift. The UCA753 replaces this assembly with a rigid DOM tube and rod end that eliminate deflection entirely, delivering more consistent axle positioning for improved launch performance, reduced wheel hop, and more repeatable handling.

The on-car adjustable design allows pinion angle to be set and fine-tuned without removing the arm, making it practical to optimize driveline geometry for your specific build. BMR strongly recommends installing their upper control arm mount (UCM002) alongside this arm - the factory stamped steel mount is undersized for aftermarket arm loads and clunking is commonly reported without the upgrade. Red version available as BMR PN UCA753R. Made in the USA.
