Vehicle Fitment

  • 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD (6.6L Duramax L5P Diesel) - All Trims
  • 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD (6.6L Duramax L5P Diesel) - All Trims
  • 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD (6.6L Duramax L5P Diesel) - All Trims
  • 2024 GMC Sierra 3500HD (6.6L Duramax L5P Diesel) - All Trims

Fitment Notes

  • Does NOT fit 2025 Duramax - GM added a PCV sensor for the 2025 model year that conflicts with this system; a new kit incorporating a Banks PCV Control Module is forthcoming for 2025 applications
  • Available in two filter options: oiled (42285) and dry (42285-D) - both are the same price and include the same system components; choose based on your maintenance preference
  • Replacement filter element: Banks 41829 (oiled) or Banks 41829-D (dry)
  • Optional pre-filter wrap for dusty/muddy environments: Banks 42652
  • 50-state emissions compliant - California CARB EO number D-161-157
  • Estimated installation time: approximately 1 hour

Features

  • Patented Banks Air Mass Control Module - the only 2024 Duramax intake that can legally increase air mass flow beyond stock levels without triggering a check engine light; all competing intakes must stay within stock MAF sensor airflow constraints or cause a CEL
  • 58% gain in mass air flow over the stock system - the result of the Air Mass Control Module working in combination with the oversized filter, SuperTube, and enclosed cold-air housing
  • 45% reduction in intake pressure loss vs. stock - denser air reaches the turbo inlet, making the turbocharger's job easier, reducing lag, and bringing boost on sooner across a wider RPM range
  • Turbo spins approximately 3,000 RPM slower under the same load - increases turbo efficiency and longevity by reducing lifetime revolutions
  • Massive dome-shaped "Big-Ass Filter" - reusable, washable, and sized for far greater dust holding capacity than stock or competing filters; maintains high flow long after stock filters are clogged
  • Banks SuperTube - large-diameter induction tube with high-volume "gulp capacity" for high-density air delivery during rapid throttle inputs
  • Enclosed cross-linked polyethylene cold-air housing - keeps power-robbing hot underhood air out; integrates with OEM hood ram-air scoop and adds a side fender inlet near the wheel well for additional cool-air draw and turbo induction note
  • Unique EPDM bellows coupler - accommodates engine movement to protect components and extend service life; tapers down from filter outlet to increase air density at the MAF sensor

Product Description

The Banks Power 42285 is a complete Ram-Air cold air intake system designed specifically for the 2024 Chevrolet and GMC 2500HD/3500HD equipped with the 6.6L Duramax L5P diesel. The 2024 Duramax presents a unique engineering challenge: GM's revised MAF sensor calibration monitors both analog airflow and digital pressure signals simultaneously, meaning any aftermarket intake that increases airflow beyond stock parameters will trigger a check engine light - preventing competitors from offering a truly high-flow intake for this platform. Banks solved this with their patented Air Mass Control Module, an electronic device that manages the MAF sensor's output data before it reaches the ECM, allowing Banks engineers to design an intake system genuinely unconstrained by stock airflow limits.

The result is a 58% gain in mass air flow and a 45% reduction in intake pressure loss over the stock system - numbers no competing intake can match on the 2024 L5P without causing a fault code. The massive dome-shaped "Big-Ass Filter" combined with the Banks SuperTube gives the turbocharger a large reservoir of high-density cool air to draw from, reducing lag and bringing boost on sooner. The enclosed XLPE housing keeps hot underhood air out while integrating with the OEM hood scoop and adding a side fender inlet for additional cool-air intake. An EPDM bellows coupler accommodates engine movement and tapers the airflow path to maximize air density at the MAF sensor.

Important: This kit does not fit 2025 Duramax trucks. GM introduced a new PCV sensor in the 2025 model year that requires additional electronics Banks is developing for a future kit. Confirm your model year before ordering.
