Vehicle Fitment

  • 2025+ BMW M5 Touring (G99, S68 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 + 145kW electric motor, 717hp total system output / 738 lb-ft, M xDrive AWD, 8-speed automatic)

Fitment Notes

  • This kit is engineered exclusively for the G99 M5 Touring (wagon/estate) body style. It is a separate application from the G90 M5 Sedan, which uses a different AST spring kit (ASTLS-24-146) with its own drop values calibrated for the sedan's body mass and weight distribution. The G99 Touring is approximately 40-68kg heavier than the G90 Sedan due to its extended roof, reinforced rear structure, and estate cargo floor - requiring an independently calibrated spring set to deliver the correct drop and dynamic behaviour for the wagon platform.
  • The M5 Touring (G99) is exclusively available with M xDrive all-wheel drive in all markets globally. There is no rear-wheel-drive-only G99 variant. M xDrive can be set to a rear-wheel-drive-dominant mode at the driver's request, but the hardware and spring geometry are the same across all operating modes.
  • The G99 M5 Touring is equipped with Adaptive M Suspension (electronically controlled variable dampers) as standard. This kit has been developed for the G99 Touring platform and is indicated as EDC compatible by AST's authorised distributors. Springs install into the factory multi-link Adaptive M damper assemblies at both axles without requiring modification to the electronic damping system.
  • The asymmetric 26mm front / 15mm rear drop is specifically calibrated for the G99 Touring's body mass distribution. The larger front drop addresses the estate's relatively lighter front corner loading compared to its heavier rear body structure, while the conservative 15mm rear drop accounts for the Touring's rear cargo section weight and maintains appropriate rear suspension travel for the wagon's intended everyday practicality and load-carrying use. This produces a level, balanced lowered stance without a nose-down appearance.
  • The G99's PHEV powertrain - S68 V8 paired with an integrated 145kW electric motor at the 8-speed transmission - adds substantial mass compared to a conventional M5. The spring rates account for this total vehicle weight of approximately 2,475kg (European spec), which is significantly heavier than prior M5 generations and requires dedicated spring calibration rather than adaptation from earlier platform kits.
  • The G99 M5 Touring is also equipped with rear-axle steering (M Servotronic) as standard. This system operates independently of the spring geometry and is unaffected by this spring replacement.
  • Front drop: 26mm / Rear drop: 15mm. These are fixed values - this is not an adjustable spring kit. A separate AST Adjustable Lowering Spring kit (ASTALS-21-017) is available for the G90/G99 M5 family if variable ride height is required.
  • Full four-wheel alignment must be verified and corrected following installation. ABS sensor positions should be re-adjusted post-installation.

Features

  • G99 M5 Touring-specific progressive spring rate, developed and validated by AST engineers in the Netherlands exclusively for the Touring wagon platform - accounting for the extended body structure, reinforced rear section mass, total PHEV powertrain weight (~2,475kg), and M xDrive front axle load. Not interchangeable with the G90 Sedan application.
  • Asymmetric 26mm front / 15mm rear drop, precision-calibrated to produce a level, balanced lowered stance on the Touring body - reducing the factory wheel arch gap meaningfully at both ends without creating an exaggerated nose-down or tail-heavy appearance, and without compromising rear suspension travel for everyday load carrying.
  • EDC-compatible - developed to work with the factory Adaptive M Suspension variable-damping system, preserving the full range of Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Track mode operation without triggering fault codes or degrading the adaptive damper's functionality.
  • Lowers the G99 Touring's center of gravity at both axles - a particularly meaningful improvement on a vehicle weighing over 2,400kg, where a lower CoG delivers proportionally greater reductions in body roll and improvements in cornering composure than the same drop would on a lighter platform.
  • Progressive spring design improves body motion control and lateral composure at spirited pace while retaining the compliant, refined ride quality that defines the M5 Touring's dual personality as both a performance car and a practical everyday estate.
  • Direct OEM spring replacement - installs into the factory multi-link front and rear Adaptive M Suspension damper housings using original mounting hardware; no modification to the M xDrive system, PHEV drivetrain, hybrid battery, rear-axle steering, or factory electronics required.
  • Developed and tested to work correctly with the factory Adaptive M Suspension damper assemblies, enabling spring-only installation without concurrent damper replacement.
  • Manufactured from premium high-tensile chromium-silicon wire, individually handpicked by AST engineers for material quality and long-term fatigue resistance.
  • Cold-wound on precision Wafios coiling machines, then heat-treated to increase hardness and eliminate residual winding stress from the manufacturing process.
  • Each spring is individually shot peened, phosphate treated, and powder coated for maximum corrosion resistance and long-term service life.
  • Each spring is blocked and computer-tested prior to shipment to minimise post-installation settling, so the 26mm/15mm target drop is achieved immediately upon installation.
  • Most AST spring applications are TUV certified - certificates available upon request for technical inspection or registration compliance.
  • Lifetime warranty against breakage - backed by AST Suspension's manufacturer guarantee.

Product Description

The AST ASTLS-25-078 Lowering Spring Kit is purpose-built for the BMW M5 Touring (G99) from the 2025 model year - the first M5 Touring sold in the United States and only the third M5 wagon in the model's history. This kit is not a shared or adapted application: the G99 Touring is a fundamentally distinct vehicle from the G90 M5 Sedan, carrying an additional 40-68kg in its extended roof, reinforced rear structure, and estate cargo floor, with a total curb weight of approximately 2,475kg in European specification. That is a different engineering challenge from the sedan, and AST has developed a dedicated spring calibration to meet it. The G90 Sedan uses a different kit (ASTLS-24-146, 25mm/20mm) - the two applications are not interchangeable.

The 26mm front and 15mm rear asymmetric drop reflects the Touring's body mass distribution. The rear is dropped conservatively to preserve appropriate rear suspension travel for load carrying while still closing the wheel arch gap meaningfully; the front is dropped slightly further to produce a level, balanced stance rather than a tail-high or nose-down appearance. At these values the G99's multi-link front and rear Adaptive M Suspension geometry remains within the range where standard four-wheel alignment correction restores all parameters to optimal settings. The kit is confirmed EDC-compatible, meaning the Adaptive M Suspension continues to operate across all modes - Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Track - without fault codes or functionality loss. For a vehicle whose daily character depends as heavily on adaptive damper performance as on spring rates, this compatibility is essential.

The practical improvements on a car of the G99's mass are real and meaningful. At over 2,400kg, a lower centre of gravity delivers proportionally larger reductions in body roll and improvements in cornering composure than the same drop would on a lighter car - the physics work in the enthusiast's favour here. Paired with the M xDrive system's rear-biased torque distribution and the S68's 717hp system output, the lowered and re-centred G99 Touring becomes a more connected, more committed version of an already extraordinary machine. Every spring is manufactured from premium chromium-silicon wire on Wafios coiling machines in the Netherlands, individually computer-load tested before shipment, and backed by AST's lifetime warranty against breakage. TUV certification documentation is available on request.
