The AMP Research 75149-01A PowerStep Stainless Steel Trim Strips are a polished accent upgrade designed to add a chrome-like brightwork finish to the front edge of AMP Research PowerStep running boards equipped with the new-style board extrusion and single-bolt end caps. From the factory, all PowerStep running boards ship with an all-black anodized and PTFE-coated finish - effective for a discreet, blacked-out appearance but understated for owners who prefer a more visually prominent step. These 79-inch polished stainless steel strips snap onto the outer front edge groove of each board, immediately adding a polished accent stripe that is visible both when the steps are fully deployed and when they are retracted flush under the rocker panel.

Stainless steel is the ideal material for this application. Unlike chrome-plated steel or aluminum - which rely on an outer plating layer that can chip, bubble, or corrode over time - stainless steel's corrosion resistance is intrinsic to the alloy, driven by its high chromium content. This allows the strips to maintain their bright polished appearance through repeated exposure to rain, road salt, mud, and temperature cycling without the deterioration risk associated with plated finishes. The high-chromium composition also means the strips can be polished back to their original luster if surface scratches develop.

Installation takes under an hour with no drilling, cutting, or adhesives. The end caps on each PowerStep board are removed by unboltting the single retaining bolt, the trim strip is pressed into the front edge channel of the board extrusion, and the end caps are reinstalled to lock the strip in place. The process is fully reversible. One pair of 79-inch strips is included per kit - one for the driver-side board and one for the passenger-side board. These strips are compatible with the standard PowerStep, PowerStep Xtreme, and PowerStep XL series wherever the new-style extrusion with single-bolt end caps and the 79-inch board length is used.
