Vehicle Fitment

  • 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma - All Cab Styles (Double Cab, Access Cab) and All Trims (SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Limited, Trailhunter, and all other trims)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits the fully redesigned fourth-generation Toyota Tacoma (2024 and 2025 model years) - does NOT fit the previous generation (2016-2023) Tacoma; those applications require a different kit number
  • Fits all cab configurations offered on the 2024-2025 Tacoma, including Double Cab and Access Cab body styles
  • No drilling is required for installation - the kit uses existing mounting points on covered Tacoma applications; all vehicle-specific brackets, hardware, and wiring are included
  • Wiring connects via the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic port using the included Plug-N-Play module - no door panel removal or factory wire splicing required
  • The included rocker rail housing provides a seamless, integrated appearance along the rocker panel area and offers light rocker panel protection when the steps are retracted
  • Professional installation is recommended; experienced DIYers can install using the included vehicle-specific guide

Features

  • Automatically deploys 3 inches lower than the standard AMP Research PowerStep when any door is opened - providing a significantly lower and more accessible stepping surface specifically suited to the ride height of lifted or stock 2024-2025 Tacomas and making entry and exit noticeably easier compared to the standard PowerStep deployment position
  • When retracted, the boards tuck into the integrated rocker rail housing rather than simply folding under the rocker panel - this housing provides a more rugged, built-in appearance than standard PowerStep retraction and offers additional rocker panel protection while driving
  • Steps retract approximately 3 seconds after all doors close, removing the boards from the vehicle's ground clearance envelope between driving cycles
  • OBD-II Plug-N-Play installation - connects under the dashboard via the vehicle's OBD-II port, eliminating door panel removal and factory wiring access during installation
  • Corrosion-resistant die-cast aluminum construction with anodized black finish and military-grade PTFE coating resists oxidation, abrasion, and UV degradation in all road and weather conditions
  • Textured, non-slip 6-inch wide step surface provides full cab-length coverage for confident footing in all footwear types and weather conditions
  • Integrated low-profile LED courtesy lights in the central rail illuminate the step surface and surrounding ground during each deployment; lights extinguish automatically when steps retract
  • Precision stainless steel pivot pins and maintenance-free self-lubricating bushings ensure smooth, consistent all-weather operation
  • 600 lb. load capacity per side - twice the rated capacity of most competing stationary running boards
  • Anti-pinch safety technology monitors for resistance during step movement and stops the motor if an obstruction is detected
  • Optional Override Switch (sold separately) available for manual deployment and retraction independent of door inputs
  • American designed and engineered; backed by AMP Research's industry-leading 5-year / 60,000-mile limited warranty

Product Description

The AMP Research 77362-01A PowerStep XL is the electric running board system designed specifically for the 2024-2025 Toyota Tacoma - covering all cab styles and trim levels on the fully redesigned fourth-generation platform. The PowerStep XL is AMP Research's answer for trucks where the standard PowerStep deployment height still leaves occupants with too large a step to the ground - the XL's boards deploy 3 inches lower than the standard PowerStep, placing the step surface at a noticeably more accessible height relative to the Tacoma's floor without requiring a lift kit or any modifications to the truck itself.

The key visual and functional distinction of the PowerStep XL versus the standard PowerStep is the integrated rocker rail housing. When the boards retract, they tuck into this housing - which runs along the rocker panel area rather than the steps simply folding up under the body. This gives the Tacoma a more built-out, rugged side profile when the steps are stowed and provides light rocker panel protection against trail debris and road hazards. When any door opens, the boards deploy automatically from the housing within seconds, and retract approximately 3 seconds after all doors close to clear the ground clearance envelope for driving.

Installation does not require drilling on the 2024-2025 Tacoma - all mounting points use existing holes on covered applications. The system connects to the Tacoma's OBD-II diagnostic port via the included Plug-N-Play module, eliminating the need for door panel removal or factory wire splicing. All mounting brackets, hardware, and the Plug-N-Play wiring module are included in the kit. The 77362-01A is backed by AMP Research's 5-year / 60,000-mile limited warranty.
