Fitment Notes

• The 20-91206D is a conical oval performance air filter element - not an OE flat-panel drop-in replacement. • This filter uses Pro DRY S media - no oil is required at any point in the filter's service life. Cleaning requires only aFe POWER CLEANER. No re-oiling step is performed after cleaning. As an aftermarket conical filter element for use with non-OE intake systems, it requires a CARB Executive Order number for California street use - which this part does not currently have. Legal for use in the other 49 states on vehicles used for racing or off-road applications, or on street vehicles in non-CARB states subject to local emissions regulations.

Features

• The Pro DRY S media consists of three progressively finer layers of oil-free synthetic material. The progressive density arrangement captures larger particles at the outer layer and finer particles in the inner layers, maintaining high airflow even as the filter accumulates debris over the service interval. The synthetic media does not require oil to function - the filtration mechanism is entirely mechanical (physical particle capture by the media fibers), not oil-adhesion-based as in cotton gauze filters. This makes it the preferred choice for applications where MAF sensor oil contamination is a concern.
• The conical oval shape provides more filter surface area than a cylindrical filter of equivalent flange size, since the tapered body increases the total media area from flange to the wider base. The oval cross-section (rather than round) maximizes the usable filter diameter for the available space in the intake housing, fitting more filter area into a non-circular airbox or housing envelope.
• The inverted top further increases the total filter surface area by using the internal volume of the filter - pulling the top inward creates additional media area that a flat-top filter would leave unused. This is particularly valuable in a conical oval filter where the design priority is maximizing media area within the physical constraints of the intake system housing.
