Fitment Notes

• This is a front shock absorber - designed specifically for the front axle position on the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ with a 4" suspension lift.
• This shock is the front shock component of the Zone Offroad ZONJ17N 4" Coil Spring Lift Kit for the WJ. It is also sold individually for replacement or standalone use.
• The companion rear shock for this application is ZON7971 (26.20 x 15.65 x 2-3/8 - EB1/EB1), designed for the 4" rear lift position on the same vehicle.
• Vehicles equipped with the 4.7L V8 engine may not achieve the full stated 4" lift height due to additional engine weight.
• AWD (Quadra-Drive) models may require front driveline modification. See Zone Offroad installation instructions for details.
• Some WJ models may experience minor front wheel shimmy related to OE steering design - alignment and/or tire/wheel changes typically correct this condition.
• Shock absorbers are sold individually - order 2 for a complete front axle replacement.
• Bushings and sleeves are included with each shock for direct installation.

Product Description

The Zone Offroad ZON7978 is a vehicle-specific Nitro Series front shock absorber engineered for the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ at 4" of suspension lift. It is the designated front shock in the Zone Offroad ZONJ17N 4" Coil Spring Lift System and is also sold individually for replacement or standalone applications. With 24.66" extended and 14.79" collapsed lengths and 9.87" of travel, the ZON7978 is sized to work correctly with the WJ's front coil-spring suspension geometry at 4" of lift - a length that allows the front suspension to travel through its full range without the shock bottoming out or limiting articulation. The Stem (S1) upper mount and Bar Pin (BP7) lower mount match the WJ's factory front shock mounting locations for a bolt-on installation that requires no drilling or modification.

Zone's Nitro Series twin-tube design charges the shock body with 50 psi of nitrogen gas to prevent oil aeration and foaming during sustained off-road use.
