The Yukon Gear & Axle YP MINSGM8.5-30 Mini Spool transforms a GM 8.5" open differential into a full-time traction spool by replacing the spider gear set with a solid alloy steel spool. Built from heat-treated steel and precision machined, it delivers 100 % torque to both rear wheels at all times for enhanced traction under load, off-road, towing or low-traction conditions.

This low-cost spool is ideal for performance or light off-road vehicles that require consistent lockup without the expense of a full spool. It installs directly into a standard open carrier with no machining or ring/pinion setup changes needed. Note: due to design, this mini spool may generate axle chatter and tire scrub during tight turns or street-only use, and it's not recommended for daily street-driven vehicles.

Ensure your vehicle uses a GM 8.5" 10-bolt rear axle with 30-spline shafts and that it originally had an open carrier - this spool is not compatible with limited-slip, Positraction, Trac-Lok, or full floater units.
