For 1986-1997 GM 10.5" 14-bolt applications (second design with updated pinion bearing), use YK GM14T-B instead
For 1998-and-newer GM 10.5" 14-bolt applications, use YK GM14T-C instead
Full-float axle design - axle shafts are retained by a hub and flange, not C-clips

The Yukon YK GM14T-A is a complete master overhaul kit for the 1988-and-older GM 10.5" 14-bolt full-float truck rear differential - one of the most capable and sought-after axles ever produced by GM, widely used in 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks and vans from the late 1960s through 1988. Found across a broad range of classic C/K-series Chevrolet and GMC heavy-duty trucks, full-size vans, and Suburbans, this axle is known for its straddle-mounted pinion design, full-floating 30-spline axle shafts, and massive 10.5" ring gear. Rather than sourcing Timken bearings, seals, a pilot bearing, shims, and hardware separately, this kit consolidates every required rebuild component into a single, application-specific part number.

A key distinction of this kit is the pilot bearing, which supports the nose of the pinion on the 1973-1983 design. The kit includes a comprehensive shim set for pinion depth and carrier preload, gear marking compound and brush for contact pattern verification, thread locker, crush sleeve, pinion nut, and a differential cover gasket. Note that ring gear bolts are not included and must be sourced separately. Timken bearings and races deliver long-lasting performance at or above the OEM standard for this application.

Buyers must confirm their year range carefully before ordering - this kit specifically excludes 1984 and 1985 model year applications, which used a transitional pinion bearing design not covered here. For 1986-1997 GM 10.5" 14-bolt applications using the updated larger-diameter pinion bearing introduced in 1986, YK GM14T-B is the correct kit. For 1998-and-newer applications, use YK GM14T-C.
