Fitment Notes

Fits the GM 8.6" (8.625") 10-bolt rear differential - 1999-2008 generation only; uses larger LM603049/LM603012 carrier bearings unique to the 8.6" housing
For 2009-and-newer GM 8.6" applications with updated bearing sizes, use YK GM8.6-B instead
All 8.6" axles are identifiable by rear disc brakes - 8.5" axles use drum brakes and require a different kit
Carrier breaks at 2.56 and numerically lower / 2.73 and numerically higher - confirm gear ratio and carrier compatibility before assembly
1999 model year vehicles may have either an 8.5" or 8.6" axle depending on body style - new body style GMT800 trucks from 1999 onward use the 8.6"; verify via VIN with a GM dealer or by measuring carrier bearing OD before ordering

The Yukon YK GM8.6-A is a complete master overhaul kit for the 1999-2008 GM 8.6" (8.625") 10-bolt rear differential - one of the most widely used rear axles across the GMT800 generation of Chevrolet and GMC 1/2-ton trucks, SUVs, and full-size vans, as well as the Cadillac Escalade, Hummer H3, Isuzu Ascender, Buick Rainier, and Saab 9-7x. Rather than sourcing Timken bearings, seals, shims, and hardware individually, this kit consolidates every required rebuild component into a single, application-specific part number.

The kit includes a full shim set for dialing in pinion depth and carrier preload, gear marking compound and brush for contact pattern verification, thread locker, crush sleeve, ring gear bolts, pinion nut, oil baffles and slingers where applicable, and a differential cover gasket - providing complete coverage from start to finish without additional hardware runs. Timken bearings and races deliver long-lasting performance at or above the OEM standard, and the larger LM603049/LM603012 carrier bearing specification unique to the GM 8.6" housing is confirmed throughout the kit.

Buyers should confirm they have the GM 8.6" axle before ordering - the easiest identification method is rear disc brakes, which are found exclusively on the 8.6" application.
