Reverse rotation (high pinion) gear set - fits the GM AAM 9.25" IFS front differential ONLY; does NOT fit the Chrysler / Dodge AAM 9.25" rear differential, which is a different axle entirely
Two housing styles exist across the production run: 1988-2010 use a clamshell-style (two-piece) aluminum differential housing; 2011 and newer use a Salisbury-style (one-piece) housing with a removable cover - this ring and pinion gear set fits both housing styles
Carrier break: 3.42 and numerically higher - fits the standard carrier used with 3.42 and above gear ratios; verify carrier compatibility if your vehicle currently has a 3.08 or lower ratio
Ring gear bolts use left-hand thread (M12 x 1.5 LH) - use correct thread direction during installation to prevent stripping
Pinion spline count: 30-spline - verify yoke compatibility before ordering

Built from high-grade steel with a precision-engineered tooth surface finish designed to minimize friction and heat under heavy loads, the YG GM9.25-456R is the primary choice for owners of lifted or big-tired 2500 and 3500 series trucks who need to restore their vehicle's power band, towing performance, and drivability after a tire size upgrade.

The GM AAM 9.25" IFS front differential uses a reverse rotation (high pinion) gear design where the pinion sits above the ring gear centerline - a layout unique to IFS front axles. This reverse rotation geometry is what allows independent front suspension geometry while maintaining the correct driveshaft angle. The YG GM9.25-456R is engineered specifically for this reverse rotation setup and is not interchangeable with standard rotation gear sets from other GM axles.
