Vehicle Fitment

  • 1983-2011 Ford Crown Victoria / Mercury Grand Marquis (Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")
  • 1983-2014 Ford F-150 (1/2 Ton, Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")
  • 1983-1996 Ford Bronco (Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")
  • 1991-2010 Ford Explorer (Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")
  • 1997-2014 Ford Expedition (Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")
  • 1983-2014 Ford E-150 (1/2 Ton, Rear, Standard Rotation Ford 8.8")

Fitment Notes

  • Does not fit 2010-2014 Mustang GT500 and other big-bearing/31-spline Mustang applications - this gear set uses a 30-spline pinion and will not match the 31-spline, 3.250" OD pinion bearing setup used on those cars
  • The Ford 8.8" rear axle spans many spline counts, bearing sizes, and solid-axle vs. independent-rear-suspension designs across its production history; confirm your axle tag or door-jamb axle code before ordering, especially on Mustang, Explorer, and Ranger applications where multiple 8.8" variants were offered
  • Fits standard-rotation (non-reverse) 8.8" rear differentials only - not for use in front IFS applications

Features

  • High-performance ring & pinion gear set engineered to OEM fitment specifications
  • Advanced heat-treating process increases gear strength under high-torque conditions
  • Precision-finished gear tooth surface reduces friction and operating heat
  • High-grade steel construction on both ring and pinion for extended service life
  • Designed and validated through Yukon's in-house engineering and quality-testing labs
  • Quiet, smooth-running gear set suited for towing, daily driving, and highway cruising
  • Matched and lapped ring and pinion set for consistent tooth contact pattern
  • 3.08 ratio well suited to restoring fuel economy and lowering highway RPM on stock-tire applications

Specifications

Product Description

The Yukon YG F8.8-308 is a high-performance ring & pinion gear set built for the standard-rotation Ford 8.8" rear differential, one of the most widely used rear axles across Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury's truck, SUV, and full-size car lineups. Manufactured to OEM fitment tolerances and finished using Yukon's advanced heat-treating and precision gear-cutting processes, this set is engineered to run quiet under normal driving while holding up to towing, highway cruising, and daily use.

At a 3.08:1 ratio, this gear set is commonly used to restore fuel economy and lower engine RPM at highway speeds, particularly on trucks and cars running factory-size tires that want a more relaxed cruising ratio. The ring and pinion are matched and lapped as a set, and Yukon's gear tooth surface finish is designed to minimize friction and heat buildup over long-term use.

Because the Ford 8.8" axle was produced in several spline and bearing configurations over its long production run, confirming your specific axle variant before ordering is important - this set uses a 30-spline pinion and is not compatible with the 31-spline, big-bearing 8.8" differential found in select high-performance Mustang applications. It does not include an installation kit, bearings, seals, or a crush sleeve; a compatible install kit is required to complete the swap.
