For 3.73 and numerically higher gear ratios ONLY (e.g., 4.10, 4.56, 4.88) - this is the "4 series" carrier break; does NOT fit 3.54 and lower ratios
NOT compatible with "thick" cut ring and pinion gear sets - verify gear set style before ordering
Double drilled for both 3/8" and 7/16" ring gear bolts - no adapter hardware needed for either bolt size

Product Description

The Yukon Gear & Axle YGLD30-4-27 Grizzly Locker is a full mechanical positive-locking differential built for the Dana Spicer 30 front axle with 27-spline shafts and gear ratios of 3.73 and higher. Covering a wide spectrum of Jeep platforms from the early CJ era through the modern JK Wrangler, as well as the classic early Ford Bronco, the YGLD30-4-27 is designed for rock crawling, trail running, and off-road competition where maximizing front axle traction is critical. Under load it routes 100% of power to both front tires simultaneously, while the mechanical design allows the unit to disengage automatically during turns for manageable on-road handling.

Yukon's patented tooth geometry gives the Grizzly Locker a meaningful strength advantage over conventional designs. The inner clutch teeth are machined with a larger radius at the base compared to standard back-cut alternatives, delivering up to 350% greater strength at the tooth root - the most common fracture point in mechanical lockers under shock loading, hard steering inputs, or sudden axle events. Combined with a forged steel case and 8620 chromoly internals, the YGLD30-4-27 is purpose-built to endure the elevated demands placed on front differentials in serious off-road builds.

This unit is designed for the 3.73-and-up (4-series / slow case) carrier break on the Dana 30, and is double drilled to accept both 3/8" and 7/16" ring gear bolts without adapter hardware. It is NOT compatible with "thick" cut ring and pinion gear sets - verify gear style before ordering. Jeep YJ and XJ models equipped with the factory vacuum-operated Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) system require solid, one-piece axle shafts to be installed before this locker can function correctly. This unit does not fit Rubicon JK models with the Dana 44 front axle, or 2018+ JL Wrangler / JT Gladiator platforms. All units are assembled in the USA and are covered by Yukon's Y.E.S. Extended Service Plan.
