The Yukon YDGF8.8-31-1 Dura Grip is a clutch-type limited slip differential carrier engineered for the Ford 8.8" axle with 31 spline axles across all gear ratios. Built with a high-strength nodular iron case and forged 4320 chromoly spider gears, the Dura Grip is designed to deliver smooth yet aggressive positraction performance across a wide range of driving conditions -- from street use to off-road and performance applications. Raybestos composite clutch packs and a 4-spring preload design provide consistent torque transfer with a bias toward street-friendly engagement that is not overly aggressive for daily driving. This differential carrier fits an extensive range of Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles that share the Ford 8.8" rear axle housing, spanning trucks, SUVs, and performance cars from the early 1980s through 2014. It is fully compatible with all gear ratios, making it a direct replacement in virtually any 8.8" 31-spline application without the need for additional ring and pinion matching. The rebuildable design allows internal components including clutch packs and spider gears to be replaced independently, extending service life and reducing long-term ownership cost. Assembly is proudly done in the USA using forged internals and composite clutches that are tested and validated through state-of-the-art CAD software and extensive bench testing. Carrier bearings are not included and must be sourced separately. Yukon recommends using high-grade non-synthetic GL-5 gear oil with Yukon LSD additive (part# OILADD) to ensure smooth operation and maximum clutch longevity. Synthetic oil is not recommended and may cause aggressive or noisy engagement.
