Product Description

The Wehrli Custom Fabrication WCF100733 VGT Turbo Heat Blanket is precision-engineered for 2004.5-2016 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks equipped with the 6.6L Duramax diesel engine and factory Variable Geometry Turbochargers. This premium turbo blanket is handmade in the USA using high-temperature insulation materials rated to withstand direct heat exceeding 2500°F, making it ideal for stock trucks, tow rigs, and performance-modified applications. By containing exhaust heat within the turbocharger housing, this blanket improves turbocharger efficiency, maintains optimal operating temperatures, and dramatically reduces under-hood heat that can damage sensitive components like wiring harnesses, fuel lines, rubber hoses, and electronic modules throughout the engine bay.

Installation requires removal of the factory turbo heat shield, as the Wehrli blanket is not compatible with OEM shields. The blanket wraps securely around the turbo exhaust housing and fastens with integrated stainless steel rivets that resist corrosion and maintain secure attachment even under extreme vibration and thermal cycling conditions. The durable exterior shell material is engineered to withstand abrasion from debris and maintain its structural integrity over years of hard use. Most installations can be completed in 30-45 minutes with basic hand tools and moderate mechanical skill. This turbo blanket is particularly beneficial for trucks used for heavy towing, daily driving in hot climates, or applications where managing under-hood temperatures is critical for reliability and component longevity.

Compatible with LLY (2004.5-2005), LBZ (2006-2007), LMM (2007.5-2010), and LML (2011-2016) Duramax engines, the WCF100733 fits all Silverado and Sierra HD trucks regardless of cab configuration (Regular, Extended/Double, Crew), bed length (short or long), drivetrain (2WD or 4WD), or rear axle configuration (SRW or DRW). The blanket works with both factory Garrett VGT turbochargers and aftermarket drop-in replacement turbos that use the same mounting configuration. By reducing heat soak into the intake system, this blanket helps keep intake air temperatures lower for denser air charge and better combustion efficiency. It also protects expensive components in the crowded engine bay from premature failure due to excessive heat exposure, making it a smart investment for anyone seeking to protect their Duramax and extend the service life of their truck's under-hood components.
