Vehicle Fitment

  • 1963-1972 Chevrolet C10 Pickup (2WD, 1/2-ton)
  • 1963-1972 Chevrolet C15/C1500 Pickup (2WD, 3/4-ton)
  • 1963-1972 GMC C10/C15 Pickup (2WD)
  • 1973-1987 Chevrolet C10/C1500 Pickup (2WD - includes 1987 R10/R1500)
  • 1973-1987 Chevrolet C15/C1500 Pickup (2WD)
  • 1973-1987 GMC C15/C1500 Pickup (2WD - includes 1987 R1500)

Fitment Notes

  • 2WD (C-series) trucks only - does NOT fit 4WD K-series trucks (K10, K15, K1500) which use a different front suspension configuration
  • Front springs only - rear lowering requires a separate solution (flip kit, drop blocks, or C-notch; see UMI 6410 Flip Kit for rear lowering)
  • These springs can be combined with UMI's 2.5" drop spindles (PN CP4S4) for a combined 4.5" front drop on 1973-1987 C10 trucks - note that spindles require 1.25" thick brake rotors on 1981-1987 models that originally came with 1" rotors
  • Shock absorbers should be replaced or verified compatible with 2" lowered ride height - factory-length shocks may be over-extended at the new lowered position
  • A front wheel alignment is required after installation

Features

  • 2-inch front drop - lowers the nose of the classic GM C10/C15 truck for an aggressive, purposeful stance while retaining full suspension travel and drivability
  • 900 lb/in spring rate - a medium-firm linear rate selected to eliminate the soft, floating, wallowing ride quality of the stock C10 front suspension while remaining suitable for daily street driving, back road carving, and occasional light hauling
  • 12-3/8" free height - purpose-designed to achieve a consistent, reliable 2" drop across all stock-height 1963-1987 C10/C15 trucks
  • 5160 chrome silicon wire construction - premium spring steel alloy chosen for its superior fatigue life, consistent rate retention, and resistance to sag over time compared to standard spring steel
  • Linear rate delivers predictable, progressive handling response throughout the suspension's full travel - no sudden stiffening at the end of compression stroke
  • Gloss black powder coat finish - durable, corrosion-resistant, and clean-looking in the engine bay of a built classic truck
  • Sold as a pair - both driver and passenger side springs included in a single purchase
  • 100% Made in USA by UMI Performance

Product Description

The UMI Performance 6452F is a pair of 2-inch front lowering coil springs engineered for the 1963-1987 GM C10 and C15 2WD pickup truck. The classic C10/C15's factory front suspension was designed for the ride compliance requirements of a work truck - soft springs that prioritize load carrying and straight-line stability over cornering response and body motion control. The result is the characteristic nose-high stance and floating, disconnected handling feel that most builders want to address when building a restomod or performance street truck. The 6452F replaces the stock front coils with 900 lb/in chrome silicon springs that lower the front ride height by 2 inches and provide a dramatically firmer, more connected suspension response.

At 900 lb/in, the spring rate is classified as medium-firm for a truck of this weight class - stiff enough to meaningfully reduce body roll, diving under braking, and the nose-heavy forward pitch that makes stock C10s feel unpredictable in corners, while remaining soft enough for daily street driving and occasional hauling without a harsh, punishing ride. UMI winds these springs from 5160 chrome silicon wire, a premium alloy chosen for its superior resistance to sag and fatigue compared to the standard spring steel used in most OEM and budget-tier replacement springs. Consistent spring rate is critical for predictable handling - inconsistent or sagged springs cause one side of the front suspension to sit lower than the other, which introduces steering pull, alignment instability, and degraded corner balance. The 12-3/8" free height is calibrated to deliver a reliable 2" drop across all stock-height 1963-1987 C10/C15 trucks.

For owners who want additional drop beyond 2", the 6452F springs can be stacked with UMI's CP4S4 2.5" drop spindles for a combined 4.5" front drop on 1973-1987 C10 trucks - UMI recommends pairing with 1.25" brake rotors if the spindle upgrade is used on 1981-1987 trucks. Rear lowering is handled separately; UMI's 6410 Flip Kit is the recommended complement for rear drop on 1973-1987 C10 trucks. A front wheel alignment is required after installation. Gloss black powder coat finish. Sold as a pair. 100% Made in USA by UMI Performance.
