Product Description

The Turbosmart BlackBox (TS-0305-1001) is a dedicated electronic wastegate controller engineered specifically for use with Turbosmart's range of electronically actuated external wastegates. As a dual-channel, high-current H-Bridge driver, the BlackBox bridges the gap between the ECU's boost control output and the high-current demands of electronic wastegate motors - protecting both the ECU and the wastegate actuators while translating boost control strategies directly into precise gate position commands. It is compatible with single and twin wastegate setups, making it suitable for everything from a single-turbo street build to a twin-gate motorsport application.

The BlackBox supports a wide range of control input strategies, giving tuners the flexibility to work within their existing ECU setup. Basic installations can use a standard PWM signal output, treating the BlackBox as they would a conventional boost solenoid. More advanced ECU platforms can leverage 0-5v analog position targets, CAN bus position demand, CAN bus valve area targeting, or full CAN bus programmable PID mode for native control strategy development. The unit ships pre-loaded with factory PID calibration and flow-versus-lift data for all Turbosmart electronic wastegates, so initial setup requires no manual calibration - the BlackBox auto-calibrates gate position range through a full sweep at startup. All settings and control strategies are configurable via USB connection using the free PC-based BlackBox application.

Hardware-level safety features include internal over-current and over-temperature protection to guard against damage to both the controller and the connected wastegates, with temperature monitoring available via the two dedicated 0-5v temperature sensor inputs. The robust anodized aluminium housing and 34-pin Superseal connector are selected for long-term reliability in demanding motorsport environments. Installation and configuration should be performed by a qualified technician with access to a dynamometer for boost pressure verification. Over-boost shutdown protection should always be confirmed active in the ECU before operating under boost.
