The factory rubber radiator hoses on these EJ-series Subarus are a maintenance item with a predictable failure pattern: sustained heat cycling from the turbo cooling system gradually stiffens, dries, and cracks the rubber, and by the time most owners address them, the hoses are already brittle at the necks and showing hairline cracks near the clamp seats.
