Product Description

The Superwinch Tiger Shark 9500SR (1595201) is a 9,500 lb. rated 12V electric winch built around certified Dyneema synthetic rope and a suite of synthetic-specific engineering decisions that set it apart from winches that simply swap steel cable for synthetic rope without redesigning the underlying hardware. Dyneema is a premium-grade HMPE fibre that delivers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than standard synthetic rope and significantly higher than steel wire at the same diameter - and like all synthetic rope, it does not store kinetic energy when it breaks under load, dropping safely to the ground instead of snapping back.

Two features distinguish the Tiger Shark SR from winches that use off-the-shelf drums and brake designs with synthetic rope. First, the drum is built with added wall thickness using fabricated steel construction specifically designed to handle the different load distribution and compression behaviour of synthetic rope versus steel wire. Second, the brake is relocated to the motor end of the drivetrain rather than inside the drum - this eliminates heat transfer from the drum and rope to the brake mechanism during heavy pulling, a common failure mode in standard winch designs when used with synthetic rope for extended pulls. Combined with a 5.2 HP sealed motor, 218:1 3-stage planetary gearing, stainless steel tie bars and hardware, and a weather-sealed solenoid, the Tiger Shark 9500SR is a multiple SEMA Award winner and ProPickup "Rock Solid" award recipient.
