Product Description

The SPL Parts RUA F3X is a pair of adjustable rear upper lateral arms designed for BMW's F2X (2-Series) and F3X (3-Series/4-Series) platforms, spanning model years 2012 through 2021 and including the F87 M2 and M2 Competition. On all of these vehicles, the factory rear upper arm uses a rubber bushing on the chassis end and a fixed eccentric washer for the sole rear camber adjustment point. This adjustment range is intentionally limited - and when the vehicle is lowered on coilovers or sport springs, the available eccentric travel is typically insufficient to bring rear camber back into specification. The result is excessive negative camber, accelerated inner tire wear, and alignment values outside factory or performance-preferred targets. The SPL RUA F3X replaces the OEM upper lateral arm with a fully adjustable spherical-bearing unit, dramatically expanding the available camber correction range to meet the demands of lowered street cars, track-day builds, and competitive motorsport applications.

The defining feature of SPL's design is the 360-degree rotating clamp system, which allows the driver or alignment technician to set camber and lock it down securely using nothing more than a 3/16" Allen key. This eliminates the time-consuming process of fighting jam nuts while simultaneously trying to orient bearings correctly - a frustration that has been entirely designed out of the SPL system. The gun-drilled 2024 aluminum center links, clamps, and clevises keep the arm lighter than OEM while increasing rigidity, and blue anodized titanium hardware further reduces unsprung weight. FK Spherical rod ends with Teflon lining replace all rubber compliance in the joint, delivering direct, immediate suspension response and consistent alignment retention under the dynamic loads of hard cornering, acceleration, and braking.

Fitment spans the complete F2X and F3X chassis family - from the base 320i through the M240i, M2, M2 Competition, 440i, and every variant in between - covering RWD and xDrive (AWD) configurations across both 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder models. The arms are sold as a pair and install as a direct bolt-in replacement for the OEM rear upper lateral arms, requiring no chassis modification. Replacement FK rod ends are available separately from SPL for long-term serviceability. As with all spherical bearing suspension arms, owners should expect increased NVH (road noise and vibration transmission) compared to stock rubber bushings - a characteristic of all high-performance spherical bearing suspension systems.
