Product Description

The SPEC SB53S-2 is a billet steel single-mass flywheel for the 2007-1/2009 BMW 135i and 335i/335xi with the N54 3.0L engine (8-bolt pattern). It is a direct replacement for the OEM dual-mass flywheel and is required when installing any SPEC SB53x-2 series clutch kit (Stage 2, 2+, 3, 3+). SPEC machines this flywheel to a .001-inch tolerance -- ten times tighter than the industry standard -- ensuring a perfectly flat friction surface and true rotational balance that eliminates the vibration and power-robbing runout common to lesser aftermarket units.

The steel construction provides a medium-weight rotating assembly that retains more RPM between shifts compared to an aluminum flywheel, making it better suited for street driving where drivability and smoothness matter. The friction surface is a replaceable steel plate, allowing the flywheel body to be rebuilt indefinitely rather than replaced when the friction surface wears. Eliminates all failure modes associated with the OEM dual-mass flywheel -- springs, rubber dampers, and internal wear components. SFI 1.1 certified. Production date is critical: 2/2009 and later 335i/135i use a 6-bolt pattern and require SB53S-3 instead. Made in the USA.
