  • 1992-1998 GMC K2500 Suburban - 4WD | Rear | 3-5.5 in. Lift
  • Note: N8086 is designed for 3-5.5 in. of rear lift on these GMT400-platform full-size 4WD trucks. For 0-2 in. rear lift on these same platforms, use N8083 instead. This shock is rear-position only.
  • Note: N8086 uses a Bar Pin (top) / Eyelet-Sleeve (bottom) mount, consistent with the standard GMT400 rear shock upper mount configuration (per ShockSurplus kit spec table cross-reference). Confirm your vehicle's factory rear shock mount hardware before ordering.

Features

  • 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged pressure actively prevents fluid aeration and damping fade, delivering consistent rear damping performance across 3-5.5 in. of rear lift on GMT400-platform full-size GM 4WD trucks
  • True velocity-sensitive valving automatically adjusts damping resistance in real time to terrain speed and rear axle inputs - optimal for the expanded rear suspension travel of these coil-spring-front / leaf-spring-rear GMT400 trucks at moderate lift heights
  • Twin-tube construction with multi-stage valving maintains stable secondary fluid chamber performance across the full 11.51 in. stroke, appropriately sized for 3-5.5 in. rear lift on these heavy-duty GM platforms
  • Oversized bonded iron piston head ensures precise fluid displacement and consistent damping force throughout the rear stroke range under both off-road and loaded-truck conditions
  • 5/8 in. diameter hardened, double-chrome piston rod resists corrosion, bending, and surface scoring - essential on rear axle shocks exposed to road spray, salt, and trail debris on these long-running truck platforms
  • Leak-proof seal and orifice disk design prevents fluid bypass and extends service life across years of sustained off-road and daily-driver use on the GMT400 K-series platform
  • Red polyurethane bushings provide improved vibration isolation and long-term durability far superior to aged OE rubber on vehicles of this era
  • Bar Pin (top) / Eyelet-Sleeve (bottom) mount configuration installs directly to the factory rear shock mounting points on all confirmed platforms - no modification required
  • Red protective boot included to shield the piston rod from road debris, mud, and trail grime at the rear axle
  • Internal rebound bumper prevents metal-to-metal contact at full droop during rear suspension extension
  • Shock must mount body-down - mandatory installation orientation for correct function and longevity
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty backed by Skyjacker's SkyArmor Plus supplemental warranty program

Product Description

The Skyjacker N8086 is a Nitro 8000 Series twin-tube, 150 PSI nitrogen gas-charged rear shock absorber with a Bar Pin (top) / Eyelet-Sleeve (bottom) mount and an 11.51 in. stroke. It is the higher-lift rear companion to the N8083 (0-2 in. rear lift) within the same Nitro 8000 family for the GMT400 platform, covering 3-5.5 in. of rear lift on a broad range of classic Chevrolet and GMC full-size 4WD trucks and SUVs from 1988 through 2000. Confirmed platforms include the Chevrolet K1500/K2500/K3500 Pickups (1988-1998), Chevrolet K1500 and K2500 Suburbans (1992-1998), Chevrolet Blazer/K5 Blazer (1992-1994), Chevrolet V30 (1988), Chevrolet V3500 (1989-1991), GMC K1500/K2500/K3500 Pickups (1988-2000), and GMC K1500 and K2500 Suburbans (1992-1998).

At 29.83 in. extended and 18.32 in. collapsed, the N8086 is appropriately longer than the N8083 (27.33/16.05) at lower lift heights, providing the correct rear suspension travel coverage for 3-5.5 in. of rear lift on these leaf-spring rear GMT400 trucks. The 150 PSI nitrogen charge suppresses fluid foaming and fade, while the velocity-sensitive valving adapts continuously to rear axle inputs on both trail and road surfaces. Specs confirmed by four independent sources: Skyjacker.com, PartsHawk, PartsGeek H7086 cross-reference, and PurPerformance - all agreeing on 29.83/18.32 in. A ShockSurplus kit spec table from a related listing showed 17.3 in. collapsed, which is an outlier and not used as the primary reference.

This shock is rear-position only and is not designed for front use on any listed platform. Sold individually; order two for a complete rear axle replacement. Newest confirmed application is 2000 (GMC K2500). No 2025 fitment is applicable for this part number.
