Product Description

The Skyjacker M9517 is a rear-position M95 Performance Monotube shock absorber engineered for a wide range of full-size Chevrolet, GMC, and Dodge trucks and SUVs at stock height and various lift configurations. At the core of the M95 design is a single-tube monotube construction that eliminates the fluid aeration and heat buildup common in twin-tube shocks. The large 46mm bore, combined with high-pressure nitrogen gas and a floating piston that isolates the oil from the gas charge, allows the M9517 to respond faster and more consistently than conventional hydraulic shocks - particularly under the sustained, high-frequency inputs of off-road driving or heavily laden towing conditions. The result is a shock that maintains consistent damping performance without fade or lag from the first mile to the last.

The M9517 is custom-tuned for each vehicle application on Skyjacker's fitment list, meaning the valving rates are calibrated to match the specific sprung and unsprung weights, suspension geometry, and expected lift range of each platform - not applied as a one-size-fits-all solution. The chromed, micro-polished piston rod extends seal life, while the 180-degree directional mounting accommodates varied shock bracket orientations across different model years. Polyurethane bushings at both the upper and lower mount eyes (ES34/EB4 configuration) provide a firmer, more durable connection point than rubber, resisting degradation from petroleum exposure and UV without the harshness of solid metal mounts.

The M9517 fits a broad range of platforms as a rear shock, covering 1999-2011 Chevrolet/GMC K1500 and HD pickups, 2002-2010 Hummer H2, 2000-2006 full-size Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon, Avalanche, and Yukon XL in 1500 and 2500 configurations, as well as 1994-2011 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups, classic 1961-1993 Dodge Pickup and Ramcharger/Trailduster 4WD trucks, and select Dakota 4WD models. Note that on applicable GM platforms, this shock is not compatible with factory Auto Ride systems. Sold individually - order two for a complete rear installation.
