Product Description

The Skyjacker M9597 is a single M95 Performance Monotube front shock absorber designed for the 1997-2003 Ford F-150 in 4WD configuration, sized to work with stock suspension height through 2" of front lift. As part of Skyjacker's M95 series, it uses a true monotube (single-tube) design with a floating piston that completely separates the nitrogen gas charge from the hydraulic damping oil - eliminating the foam and cavitation that can occur in twin-tube shocks when oil and gas mix under hard driving conditions. This separation maintains consistent and predictable damping force throughout the full stroke range, whether the truck is navigating washboard trails, rock ledges, or highway on-ramps.

The monotube body itself acts as a heat sink, dissipating operating temperature more effectively than a twin-tube design that wraps a second tube around the working cylinder. This thermal efficiency translates to less fade and lag under sustained off-road use where most stock and entry-level shocks begin to overheat and lose performance. The high-pressure nitrogen charge increases the shock's response speed, while the micro-polished chromed piston rod reduces friction at the upper seal and resists corrosion from trail debris, water crossings, and road salt. Skyjacker's vehicle-specific valving is tuned to the 1997-2003 F-150 4WD suspension for a balance of on-road comfort and off-road capability appropriate for lifted street/trail builds.

The M9597 is a front shock only - the matching rear shock for this application is Skyjacker part M9561, sold separately, designed for 0-1" of rear lift on the same truck. For greater lift heights on the 1997-2003 F-150 4WD, Skyjacker offers additional M95 part numbers sized for 3-5" and 5-6" front lift ranges. This shock is intended for 4WD F-150 models only; 2WD models use different mounting dimensions and require a separate part number. Installation requires reusing factory shock mounting bolts, with all necessary bushings, washers, and nuts included. Skyjacker backs the M9597 with a non-prorated lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship for the original retail purchaser for as long as they own the vehicle.
