Fitment Notes

  • On 1977-1979 Ford F-100/F-150 4WD: the 3-4" lift application mounts BEHIND the axle (B); the 5-6" lift application mounts AHEAD of the axle (A) - confirm your bracket position before ordering
  • On 1980-1996 Ford F-150 4WD and Bronco 4WD: the 5-6" and 7-8" lift applications mount BEHIND the axle - dual shock applications for these vehicles require this shock in the behind-axle position
  • Lift height ranges listed are for the front position; always cross-reference the correct rear shock for your specific platform and lift height
  • Sold individually; order 2x for a complete front pair
  • Replacement mounting hardware (washers, bushings, and nuts) is included; factory shock mounting bolts are reused
  • Upper mount is stud-style (S1); lower mount is eye-style (ES25) - confirm mount compatibility with your existing suspension hardware before ordering

Features

  • Single-tube monotube design keeps the hydraulic fluid and nitrogen gas separated by a floating piston, eliminating cavitation and maintaining consistent damping across sustained off-road use
  • High-pressure nitrogen gas charge combined with floating piston technology delivers the fastest shock response in Skyjacker's lineup - no fade, no lag
  • Large 46mm bore provides superior damping capacity and greater fluid volume for consistent performance through repeated heavy compression cycles
  • 180-degree directional mounting accommodates both ahead-of-axle and behind-axle installation positions across the wide range of supported Ford and GM applications
  • Chromed piston rod features a micro-polished shaft that reduces seal wear and extends service life under demanding trail and towing conditions
  • Custom-tuned valving specific to each vehicle application and lift height range ensures optimal damping response for the platform's actual sprung weight and geometry
  • Internal bump stop prevents metal-to-metal contact at full compression, protecting the shock body and connected suspension hardware
  • Consistent performance across the full operating temperature range - no fade or lag even during extended high-frequency input cycles
  • Polyurethane lower eye bushing (EB1) provides durability superior to OEM rubber bushings, resisting petroleum exposure and UV degradation without introducing excessive harshness
  • Limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser for the duration of vehicle ownership

Product Description

The Skyjacker M9555 is a front-position M95 Performance Monotube shock absorber with one of the widest application footprints in the M95 lineup, covering an extensive range of classic Ford and GM trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs across nearly three decades of production. On Ford platforms, it spans the 1970-1996 F-100/F-150 (both 4WD and 2WD), the 1980-1996 Bronco, the 1980-1997 F-250 and F-350 in IFS and 2WD configurations, and the 1983-1997 Ranger, Bronco II, and Explorer. On GM platforms, it covers 1967-1991 Chevrolet and GMC 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton pickups, Blazers, Jimmys, and Suburbans in both 4WD and applicable 2WD configurations. Additional supported platforms include the 1987-1996 Jeep Wrangler YJ, 1972-1982 International Scout II/Terra/Traveler, and 1990-1997 Mazda Navajo and B4000.

The M9555 uses a monotube construction with a floating piston separating the hydraulic fluid from the high-pressure nitrogen charge. This design eliminates the cavitation and heat-induced fade associated with twin-tube shocks under sustained off-road or towing loads. The large 46mm bore provides greater fluid volume and damping surface area than a conventional shock of the same length, supporting consistent response across the full range of bump and rebound cycles. The custom valving for each vehicle application and lift height range means the damping rates are calibrated to the actual sprung weight and suspension geometry of each platform - not adapted from a generic spec.

An important installation note for Ford 4WD applications: on 1977-1979 F-100/F-150 trucks, the 3-4" lift application mounts the M9555 behind the axle, while the 5-6" application mounts ahead of the axle. On 1980-1996 F-150 4WD and Bronco 4WD, the 5-6" and 7-8" lift applications both mount behind the axle, where this shock is used as part of a dual shock system. Confirm your bracket position and lift height before ordering. The M9555 uses a stud upper mount (S1) and eye lower mount (ES25) with a polyurethane EB1 bushing. Sold individually - order two for a complete front installation. All necessary mounting hardware is included; factory bolts are reused.
