The Skyjacker B8516 Black MAX shock absorber is a front shock engineered for a broad range of Jeep platforms - the Cherokee XJ (1984-2001), Comanche MJ (1986-1992), Grand Cherokee ZJ (1993-1998) and WJ (1999-2004), and Wrangler TJ and Unlimited LJ (1997-2006). It is designed to handle 0 to 3 inches of front lift across all of these applications, making it one of the most versatile Black MAX shocks in the Skyjacker lineup. Both 4WD and RWD (and select AWD) configurations are supported across the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee platforms, with the full drivetrain and engine coverage detailed in the fitment table above.

At the heart of the B8516 is Skyjacker's foam-cell twin-tube design. The internal foam-cell insert compensates for fluid expansion as the shock heats up during sustained off-road use, preventing the damping fade common in conventional hydraulic shocks.
