The Skyjacker B8536 is a Black MAX series foam-cell twin-tube hydraulic rear shock absorber engineered for lifted 4WD GM full-size 1500 trucks and SUVs across two generations of the GMT platform. On GMT800 vehicles - the 1999-2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, and 2000-2006 GMC Yukon - the B8536 is designed for rear lifts of 3-6 inches. On GMT900 vehicles - the 2007-2013 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 (new-body with front struts) and 2007-2013 GMC Yukon - it is designed for rear lifts of 4-7 inches. The extended collapsed and extended lengths (17.32 in. and 29.83 in. respectively) provide the long stroke necessary for full suspension travel on significantly lifted GM trucks without risking bottoming out or binding at full extension. The Black MAX foam-cell design keeps damping consistent as the shock heats up by using a compressible foam insert to offset fluid expansion, eliminating the need for nitrogen pressurization - and eliminating all air from the shock body in the process, which means the B8536 can be mounted in any orientation without aeration risk.

Internal construction features select-specific multi-stage velocity sensitive valving tuned to the rear suspension geometry of each supported GMT generation, a sintered iron piston with a hardened double-chromed piston rod, 360-degree arc-welded end mounts for maximum structural durability, and an oversized fluid capacity for superior heat management during sustained off-road use. The black polyurethane dust boot protects the piston rod from dirt, mud, and UV exposure, and the black powder-coat body finish resists corrosion over the life of the shock. Installation uses the factory rear shock mounting bolts - the included hardware kit provides all washers, bushings, and nuts needed to complete the swap.

The B8536 is sold as a single rear shock absorber. Two units are required for a complete rear axle replacement.
