The Skyjacker B8509 is a Black MAX series foam-cell twin-tube hydraulic front shock absorber engineered for the GMT800 generation of GM full-size trucks and SUVs. It covers the 1999-2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (4WD), the 2007 Silverado/Sierra 1500 Classic continuation model (4WD), the 2002-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 (4WD), the 2000-2006 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 and Tahoe (4WD), the 2000-2006 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL 1500 (4WD), and the 2002-2006 Cadillac Escalade (both 2WD and 4WD). It is designed for vehicles running stock height or up to 1 inch of front lift. The Black MAX foam-cell design sets this shock apart from nitrogen-charged alternatives: a foam-cell insert inside the twin-tube body compresses to offset fluid expansion as the shock heats up under hard driving, keeping damping output stable without requiring a pressurized gas charge.
