Vehicle Fitment

  • 1988-1991 Honda Civic (EF chassis - All Trims: DX, LX, EX, Si, RT 4WD)
  • 1988-1991 Honda CRX (EF chassis - All Trims: HF, DX, Si)

Fitment Notes

  • Compatible with OEM factory shock absorbers - no shock upgrade required for installation
  • Also compatible with most aftermarket shock absorbers
  • When upgrading shocks simultaneously, Skunk2 recommends pairing with Skunk2 Sport Shocks and camber correction components
  • Post-installation front and rear wheel alignment is required
  • Sold as a complete set of 4 springs (2 front, 2 rear)

Features

  • 2.25-inch front / 2.00-inch rear drop - significantly lowers the EF Civic and CRX's center of gravity for reduced body roll, improved cornering grip, and a more aggressive stance without sacrificing everyday drivability
  • Progressive dual-rate spring design (tender + main) - the relatively high front main rate (559 lb-in) and rear main rate (485 lb-in) provide firm body control under hard cornering and braking; the tender springs soften initial ride compliance for street use
  • Counteracts acceleration squat and brake dive - increased spring rates over OEM resist pitch and squat under hard acceleration and braking for a flatter, more planted driving attitude
  • CNC-wound SAE 9254V spring steel - high-chromium-silicon alloy with excellent fatigue resistance and long-term spring rate retention under repeated compression cycling
  • Shot-peen stress relieved - compressive residual surface stress extends spring life by resisting crack initiation and propagation under sustained load cycling
  • Powder coat and phosphate dual corrosion protection - all-weather resistant finish maintains spring integrity across seasons and driving conditions
  • Compatible with stock and aftermarket wheels

Product Description

The Skunk2 519-05-1650 lowering springs are a complete set of four CNC-wound progressive dual-rate springs for the 1988-1991 Honda Civic EF and 1988-1991 Honda CRX. The 2.25-inch front and 2.00-inch rear drop lowers the vehicle's center of gravity meaningfully - reducing body roll in corners, improving tire contact patch loading under hard cornering, and delivering a significantly more aggressive stance over the factory ride height.

The EF/CRX-specific spring rates are notably firmer in the main spring range than Skunk2's Civic EG or Integra sets, reflecting the lighter curb weight and shorter wheelbase of the EF chassis - particularly the CRX. The progressive dual-rate design uses a compliant tender spring for smooth small-input response, with the stiffer main spring engaging under greater suspension travel to provide strong resistance to body roll and pitch. Springs are wound from SAE 9254V chromium-silicon spring steel, shot-peen stress relieved for fatigue life, and dual-coated with phosphate and powder coat for all-weather corrosion resistance. Compatible with factory or most aftermarket shocks. Post-installation alignment is required. Skunk2 recommends pairing with camber correction components on lowered vehicles.
