Fitment Notes

  • Rear position only. Sold individually - order two for a complete rear shock replacement.
  • Stock ride height application only - not designed for lifted configurations. Confirm ride height before ordering.
  • Replaces legacy Rancho part number RS999190 - direct 4th-generation upgrade with integrated bottom mounts and dual component 2K paint finish.
  • Not for use with aftermarket shock spacers or relocation brackets.
  • Compatible with both 2WD (C-Series) and 4WD (K-Series) configurations across all applicable models.

Features

  • 9-position adjustable damping knob delivers precise ride control from soft daily-driver comfort to firm towing and off-road performance - adjustable by hand without tools.
  • 4th-generation RS9000XL design features integrated bottom mounts for enhanced structural strength over previous-generation welded mounts.
  • Dual component 2K paint finish provides superior chip resistance and long-term corrosion protection over the legacy liquid metallic coating.
  • Large 2.75-inch tri-tube body with all-weather fluid operates cooler and delivers consistent damping under sustained towing, hauling, and trail loads.
  • 18mm nitro-carburized piston rod resists scuffing and corrosion for long-term durability in demanding on- and off-road use.
  • Nitrogen gas pressurization at 120 PSI minimizes air-to-oil mixing to prevent damping fade during extended towing or off-road sessions.
  • Graphite-filled Fluon-banded 1.25-inch sintered iron piston reduces internal friction for smoother, more responsive damping across all 9 settings.

Product Description

The Rancho RS994190 is the 4th-generation RS9000XL rear shock absorber for 1988-2000 Chevrolet and GMC full-size C/K-Series trucks and SUVs at stock ride height, directly replacing the legacy RS999190. The 4th-gen design brings integrated bottom mounts and a dual component 2K paint finish - meaningful upgrades in structural integrity and long-term corrosion resistance over the previous generation. The 9-position manually adjustable damping knob allows drivers to dial in ride quality from soft and comfortable for everyday highway use to firm and controlled for towing heavy loads or tackling rough terrain, all without any tools.

The large 2.75-inch tri-tube body holds more fluid than stock, keeping operating temperatures lower during demanding use such as extended towing or repeated off-road cycles. The 18mm nitro-carburized piston rod and nitrogen gas charge at 120 PSI work together to prevent fade and maintain consistent damping through the life of the shock. This part fits the rear axle position and is sold individually - two are required for a complete rear replacement. Compatible with both 2WD C-Series and 4WD K-Series configurations across C1500, C2500, C3500, K1500, K2500, K3500, Suburban, Blazer, Tahoe, and Yukon models within the confirmed year range.
