Fitment Notes

  • Does not fit the F-150 Raptor - the Raptor uses a unique long-travel rear suspension that requires a different shock absorber
  • Designed for factory ride height (0" rear lift) only - not for lifted applications
  • Fitment ends at 2020 - the 2021 and newer 14th-generation F-150 uses a different rear shock part number
  • RWD (2WD) F-150 fitment should be verified separately - this listing is confirmed for 4WD configurations
  • Does not fit vehicles equipped with Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD/MagnaRide) suspension

Features

  • Rancho exclusive Cross Tuned Technology pairs a patented rebound valving system with an advanced compression phase, delivering improved on- and off-road handling and ride quality custom-tuned for the F-150 platform
  • Progressive Engagement Valving engineered specifically for the 2014-2020 F-150 rear suspension - gradual fluid flow engagement at low speeds absorbs initial impacts before progressively tightening for stability and control at higher inputs
  • Compression Control Valve regulates fluid transfer to absorb road impacts without disc flutter, maintaining consistent shock motion control whether commuting, towing, or on unpaved roads
  • Twin-tube, gas-pressurized design at 150 PSI minimizes air-to-oil foaming and prevents damping fade during sustained use or demanding driving conditions
  • 2-1/4" (57.2mm) diameter shock body provides increased fluid capacity for cooler operating temperatures and more consistent damping across varying speeds and terrain
  • All-weather fluid rated for internal temperatures from -40°F to 248°F, ensuring reliable performance year-round in any climate
  • Low-friction, self-lubricating seal retains gas and oil charge for faster rebound and smoother compression over the shock's service life
  • 16mm nitro-carburized piston rod resists scuffing and corrosion for long-term durability
  • 35mm sintered iron, glass-filled Fluon banded piston delivers precise shock motion control and enhanced responsiveness to changing road conditions
  • Double-welded loops at stress areas and polyurethane rebound bumper ensure structural integrity and long-term durability

Product Description

The Rancho RS55316 RS5000X is a rear shock absorber engineered specifically for 2014-2020 Ford F-150 trucks in 4WD configuration, running at factory ride height. This is the 13th-generation aluminum-bodied F-150 (introduced in 2014), and the RS55316 is tuned to match the rear suspension geometry and damping requirements of this platform across all available cab styles, bed lengths, and engine options - from the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 through the 5.0L V8 and 3.0L Power Stroke diesel. Built on Rancho's patented Cross Tuned Technology, this shock integrates an exclusive rebound valving system with an advanced compression phase that works together to deliver noticeably better ride quality, stability, and rear axle control compared to worn OEM dampers. The Progressive Engagement Valving reacts gradually at lower speeds to smooth out initial road inputs, then tightens progressively to maintain composure during harder driving, towing, or off-road use.

The RS55316's long 11.82" of rear travel and twin-tube, 150 PSI gas-pressurized construction make it well-suited to the F-150's range of uses - the twin-tube design keeps aeration and fluid foaming under control during sustained driving cycles, while the 2.25" shock body holds enough fluid to operate noticeably cooler than narrower OEM-spec dampers. All-weather fluid rated from -40°F to 248°F internally ensures reliable performance year-round. With a 29.38" extended length and 17.56" compressed, the RS55316 is specifically sized for the stock-height rear configuration of the 13th-gen F-150 and installs using factory mounting hardware with the included hardware kit.

This shock is a confirmed fitment for all 2014-2020 Ford F-150 4WD trim levels excluding the Raptor, which uses a unique long-travel rear suspension requiring a different shock. The RS55316 is not suitable for lifted applications and does not fit the 2021 and newer 14th-generation F-150, which requires a different rear shock part number. Vehicles equipped with Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD/MagnaRide) are also excluded. Sold individually - two shocks are required for a complete rear axle replacement. Backed by Rancho's Limited Lifetime Warranty, the RS55316 is a direct-fit, high-performance rear suspension upgrade for 13th-gen F-150 4WD owners at stock ride height.
