Vehicle Fitment

  • Universal - Compatible with any fuel cell collector box, surge tank, or custom fuel system requiring a trap door check valve to prevent fuel slosh and ensure constant fuel delivery to the pickup pump.
  • Suitable for all fuel types including gasoline, diesel, E85, ethanol, and methanol - all internal materials are chemically compatible with alcohol blends.
  • Mounting panel or collector box wall must be less than 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) thick. Requires a 1-1/8 in. diameter mounting hole.

Fitment Notes

  • Mounting panel or collector box wall must not exceed 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) in thickness for the bushing to clamp correctly.
  • Requires a 1-1/8 in. diameter hole drilled or cut in the collector box wall for installation - no other modifications to the collector box are needed.
  • Multiple check valves are typically used per collector box - the exact quantity depends on the number of inlets and the size of the box. Install one valve per access point in the collector box wall through which fuel enters the box from the main tank or cell.
  • Sold individually - order the quantity required for your collector box configuration.

Features

  • Trap door / ball-type check valve design functions like a one-way door - fuel freely enters the collector box through the valve from the outside, but the ball seats against the opening under any inward pressure, preventing fuel from sloshing back out during hard cornering, braking, acceleration, or lateral g-loading.
  • Large 1 in. diameter ball provides maximum flow area through the valve compared to smaller ball designs, minimizing restriction as fuel fills the collector box under normal sloshing conditions.
  • Full travel slot design (not round drilled holes) prevents the ball from wedging into the opening and getting stuck, ensuring reliable and repeatable trap door action throughout the service life of the valve.
  • Two-piece housing CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and anodized for corrosion resistance and long-term compatibility with all fuel types including E85 and methanol.
  • Wear-resistant nylon ball is chemically compatible with gasoline, diesel, and all alcohol-blend fuels - will not swell, deform, or degrade over time in fuel-wetted environments.
  • Compact design installs directly into a 1-1/8 in. hole in the collector box wall - no welding or special tooling required beyond a drill or hole saw.
  • Manufactured in the USA by Radium Engineering.

Product Description

The Radium Engineering 20-0151 is a trap door ball check valve designed for use inside fuel cell collector boxes and custom fuel surge applications where protection against fuel slosh is required. In a high-performance or motorsport fuel system, a collector box is a small internal reservoir within the fuel cell that keeps the pump pickup continuously submerged regardless of how fuel moves around inside the main cell during hard driving. The check valve acts as a one-way trap door mounted in the wall of the collector box - fuel from the main cell sloshes through the valve and fills the box freely, but the 1 in. nylon ball seats against the opening the moment slosh would otherwise pull fuel back out, keeping the box full and the pump inlet covered at all times.

The 6061 aluminum two-piece housing uses full travel slots rather than the round drilled holes found in lower-cost check valves - a key design detail that prevents the ball from wedging into the slot and becoming stuck, which would defeat the trap door function entirely. The anodized aluminum construction and nylon ball are chemically compatible with all fuel types including E85 and methanol. Installation requires only a 1-1/8 in. diameter hole in a panel no thicker than 1/4 in. - no welding or machining beyond the hole itself. Most collector box builds require multiple check valves; order the quantity needed for your specific collector box design. Sold individually; manufactured in the USA.
