  • 1978-1988 Pontiac Grand Prix, LeMans, Bonneville (GM G-Body)

Fitment Notes

  • Not compatible with OE-type coil springs - must be used with a coilover system (QA1 Pro Coil Systems recommended)
  • Compatible with factory-type sway bars; OE-style sway bar links not included
  • Mounts in OE location - no cutting, fabricating, or welding required
  • A professional front-end alignment is required after installation due to changes in suspension geometry
  • When used together with QA1 lower control arms: adds 3-4 degrees of caster and 0.5-1 degree of negative camber; when used independently, approximately half those values

Features

  • Pro-Touring 2.0 Series - engineered for autocross, road course, and aggressive street and pro-touring driving
  • Ultra low friction composite bushings eliminate bushing bind for smooth, precise, bind-free suspension movement
  • QA1 Ultimate Low-Friction Ball Joint - 1-inch taller than OE, rebuildable, with integrated dust boot for long-term service
  • 1-inch taller ball joint stud increases negative camber gain to maximize tire contact patch during cornering
  • Increased positive caster design improves straight-line stability and steering response
  • High-strength low alloy steel with billet aluminum cross shafts - under 7 lbs. each for reduced unsprung weight
  • Robotically welded construction for consistent strength and a clean, professional appearance
  • Black powder coated finish for corrosion resistance and an aggressive look

Product Description

The QA1 52565 Pro-Touring 2.0 Front Upper Control Arms are purpose-built for autocross, road course, and pro-touring builds on 1978-1988 GM G-Body vehicles including the Malibu, El Camino, Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and Pontiac Grand Prix. Manufactured from high-strength low alloy steel tubing with billet aluminum cross shafts, each arm weighs under 7 lbs. - a significant reduction over factory stamped steel arms - lowering unsprung weight for faster, more responsive suspension behavior. Ultra low friction composite bushings replace factory rubber units to eliminate bind and allow the suspension to move freely through its full range of motion.

The QA1 Ultimate Low-Friction Ball Joint features a 1-inch taller stud than OE, an integrated dust boot, and a fully rebuildable design that increases negative camber gain during cornering to keep the tire contact patch optimal for maximum grip. When paired with QA1 lower control arms, the 52565 delivers 3-4 degrees of added caster and 0.5-1 degree of negative camber for measurably improved suspension geometry. These arms bolt directly into the factory mounting location with no cutting or welding and include all necessary hardware. A coilover system is required - these arms are not compatible with OE-type springs.
