Fitment Notes

• Fits 1967-1969 GM F-Body (1st gen Camaro and Firebird) only. For 1970-1981 2nd gen F-Body, see QA1's corresponding 4-link kits for that platform.
• Rear crossmember installation requires MIG welding to the frame rails - no modifications to the floor pan are required. Installation near the fuel tank requires appropriate precautions; QA1 recommends fuel tank be as empty as possible before welding.
• Designed to work with both standard tub and mini-tub rear configurations. Supports up to 11 in. wide wheels on 1967-1968 F-Bodies and up to 12 in. wide wheels / 335 tires on 1969 models. Mini tubs are required to achieve maximum wheel and tire width.
• Rear ride height adjustability: +2 in. above stock to -3 in. below stock (5 in. total range).
• 170 lb./in. spring rate is the standard street-oriented rate for this platform. For stiffer applications, consider the double-adjustable version (R256-170) or the drag-optimized version (R356-170).
• QA1 Rear Anti-Roll Bar (52827) and Subframe Connectors (52093) are strongly recommended to complement this kit.
• Spanner wrench included for coilover ride height adjustment.

Product Description

The QA1 R156-170 is a complete rear triangulated 4-link coil-over conversion kit for 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird. It eliminates the factory leaf spring rear suspension entirely, replacing it with a purpose-built tubular steel crossmember, 4-link trailing arm assembly, and single-adjustable Proma Star coil-overs running 170 lb./in. springs. The result is a dramatically more capable and adjustable rear suspension that delivers improved traction, reduced wheel hop, and +2 to -3 in. of ride height adjustability - giving 1st gen F-Body owners control over stance and corner balance that was simply not possible with the factory setup. The red anodized upper trailing arms feature on-car pinion angle adjustment without requiring link removal.

Crossmember installation requires MIG welding to the frame rails - no floor pan modifications are needed - and can be completed with the fuel system in place as long as appropriate precautions are taken near the fuel tank. The kit supports both standard and mini-tub configurations and accommodates up to 11 in. wide wheels on 1967-1968 models and 12 in. wide wheels / 335 tires on 1969 models with mini tubs.
