Product Description

The Prothane 6-1606 is a transmission mount and crossmember combo kit engineered specifically for the 1999-2004 Ford Mustang on the SN95/New Edge platform. It replaces both the factory rubber transmission mount and the OEM crossmember in a single kit, combining a polyurethane bushing mount with a heavy-gauge zinc-plated steel crossmember that provides added exhaust clearance over the stock unit - a practical advantage for Mustangs running aftermarket cat-back or mid-pipe exhaust systems. The polyurethane mount controls drivetrain torque more effectively than rubber, reducing the movement that causes shifter vagueness and drivetrain slap under hard acceleration.

The mount includes an internal metal run-safe interlock, a safety feature that prevents the transmission from dropping in the unlikely event the bushing material fails under extreme conditions. This kit is compatible with all 1999-2004 Mustang transmissions except the T-56 6-speed used exclusively in 2003-2004 SVT Cobra models. All other trims and transmission combinations - including V6 and V8, automatic and manual - are fully supported.
