Fitment Notes

• This is the FMIC core only - does NOT include bumper beam, boost tubes, silicone couplers, or piping. Boost tubes and piping must be purchased separately for a complete FMIC installation.
• Designed as a universal replacement core compatible across all generations of the Perrin FMIC system for WRX and STI.
• Fog lights cannot be retained with this intercooler - removal required.
• Trimming of front bumper plastic is required for installation.
• Not compatible with a stock airbox - an aftermarket short ram or cold air intake is required.
• Relocating a hard fuel line is required - not recommended for beginner mechanics.
• Off-road / race use only. Not CARB legal. Not street legal in California.

Product Description

The Perrin PSP-ITR-400BK is the standard-size front mount intercooler core for 2002-2025 Subaru WRX and 2004-2021 WRX STI, sold as a standalone core replacement for use within the Perrin FMIC system. The factory Subaru top-mount intercooler is a tube-and-fin design built for ease of manufacture, not performance - it is prone to heat soak under sustained boost and limits power potential on modified builds. The Perrin 3/8" bar-and-plate core replaces it with a 28" x 9.25" x 3.5" aluminum unit offering 906.5 cubic inches of cooling volume, drastically reducing intake air temperatures and delivering dyno-proven gains of +10-20+ wheel horsepower.

Cast aluminum end tanks smoothly disperse charged air across the full width of the core without turbulence-inducing 90° corners, and every unit is pressure tested to 50 psi before leaving the factory - no leaks guaranteed. The 3/8" bar-and-plate construction is rated for 500-800 hp applications and handles road debris far better than tube-and-fin alternatives.
