Product Description

The OMIX 16536.07 is a complete rear axle conversion bearing and hardware kit for 1976-1986 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, and CJ-8 Scrambler models equipped with the AMC Model 20 rear differential that have been converted to 1-piece axle shafts. The original AMC 20 axle used a 2-piece "C-clip" style axle design that is prone to catastrophic axle shaft retention failure - a well-known weakness of this axle. Many CJ owners address this by converting to full-floating 1-piece axle shafts, which require different bearing, seal, and retainer hardware than the factory setup.

This kit includes everything needed to service one side of the axle after a 1-piece conversion: the axle bearing, inner and outer seals, bearing retainer, spacer, five replacement wheel studs, and RTV sealant for proper flange sealing during reassembly. Two kits are required to service both sides of the rear axle. This kit is specific to the AMC 20 axle with 1-piece conversion shafts - it does not apply to Dana 44 rear axle applications.
